we know LLM companies are fueled by plagiarism on the supply side, but this raises the worrying question of how much plagiarism defines the demand side as well

"Why do Master Race people always look like shabby little freaks" is one of those questions which answers itself if you think about it for even a moment
Some children in Dilley were so distraught they cut themselves or talked about suicide, parents told ProPublica. They said kids lost their appetites after finding worms and mold on their food, had trouble sleeping, and were constantly sick. (Published February)
The Kids Trump Sent to ICE’s Dilley Detention Center
ProPublica went inside the immigrant detention center for families in Dilley, Texas. Children held there told us about the anguish of being ripped from their lives in the United States and the fear of...

EVERY STORY ABOUT BEAVERS FOR THE LAST DECADE READS LIKE: WE RELEASED A DOZEN PADDLE TAILED LITTLE FREAKS AND THEY IMMEDIATELY BEGAN A TERRAFORMING PROJECT THAT REVERSED A CENTURY OF ECOLOGICAL DAMAGE IN THREE WEEKS.
Might post some good environment news every so often to showcase that it's not over yet and there are good things happening, we just have to fight for it First: beavers are basically magical creatures that help with drought and flooding, and we're reintroducing them more and more

Jason Arday told the press he was at his limit. It answered with 188 more articles. He is dead at 41.

You know how I keep saying the Times paywall is basically a rattling trapdoor over the demon realm? Well
ICYMI, over the past two weeks, English-language Wikipedia editors have engaged in a successful effort to change the first paragraph of the Republican Party entry to reflect its current status as a "neo-nationalist" political party. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Republi...

The Third Way people can't: 1) explain what "extremism" is; 2) explain their position on NSPM-7, which similarly targets "extremism" that's poorly and broadly defined.
The "centrist" think tank Third Way is looking to pay someone between $140,000 and $150,000 to spend their days trying to dig up dirt on DSA members. They're trying to sell this gig as "anti-extremism" work, which I find completely disgusting.
Oh good, more rain. Just what Indy needs. Stay safe out there, everyone.
I normally block people like this, and I'm not weighing in on whether he plagiarized because I don't know, but you're telling on yourself that you think white people don't plagiarize or have poor scholarship and simply don't get caught because nobody looks. They only look at the uppity N****
The opposite happened here... He reached one of the highest posts in academia, despite the blatant plagiarism and poor scholarship. His college actively suppressed inquiries about his plagiarism for years. Still a shame that he took his life. Likely a case of narcissistic collapse.
🚨 UPDATE: The 53rd St. gate in Rocky Ripple is being closely monitored. Should a closure of this gate be required, vehicles—including emergency vehicles—will not be able to access the area. Any residents remaining in the impacted zone should evacuate as soon as possible.
URGENT UPDATE from DPW: Residents of Rocky Ripple are advised to evacuate. The 52nd St. flood gate (circled in green) is expected to close at 2 a.m. The 53rd St. gate is being monitored; should a closure be necessary, it would likely be in the early hours of the morning.
the luigi situation is interesting in that while most people obviously think killing is wrong, there's a general exception given for killing someone who is killing others, & apparently a lot of people think that the US healthcare system is ran by killers killing people for profit, so y'know
he killed some random guy. i genuinely wonder if some of you had no mom or dad to give you some sort of moral compass. was morality just absent in your home. are you just a feral animal.
25 years of flood prevention meant the Near Eastside was never at any real risk this time. Three Basins, a marsh, two baffle block spillways, a dry detention basin, bioswales, creek restoration, and two new underground detention facilities serving the watershed all worked in concert.
Not to "well, actually" you too much, but Pogues is somehow not flooding at all. Which is a relief, as someone who lives close by to it. water.noaa.gov/wfo/ind#@=-8...
I just want the news media to tell the truth about climate change and our infrastructure issues when reporting on the flooding Back to Back to Back "500 year" storms is NOT an act of God
Today I learned that the place in Colorado is called "Crested Butte," not "Crest d'Butte," which is what I thought all the X-Games announcers were saying back in the day.
Not only is the White River raging in Indianapolis, along the sites of a John Green novel, but also these markers in Cambridge City, Indiana, are also flooded. The eastern Indiana town got about a foot of rain the other day. These markers are on a still-closed US 40. www.wrtv.com/news/floodin...
Every location mentioned in the John Green novel Turtles All the Way Down is currently underwater

@johngreensbluesky.bsky.social Hope you and yours are safe with all the flooding.
You know who wasn't hounded to suicide for dodgy academic research? ANDREW FUCKING WAKEFIELD.
Fucking Christ alive. This is fucking horrific. Like the dude was obviously a fabulist and probably a plagiarist but SO ARE ALL FUCKING ACADEMICS. He was also still a vulnerable, autistic Black man and the entire campaign against him was motivated by racism. All these things can be true.
let's be real: plagiarism scandals in academia happen all the time (not because academics plagiarize a lot, but just because of how many millions of faculty there are around the world) and it is never general-public news unless the culprit is a member of a minority.

Damn, this is wild. Can't remember anything like this ever happening with White River.
Residents are being told to leave their homes tonight...
I truly do not understand why this person is so important that "extremely serious people" are willing to overlook that he was a full-blown Nazi well into adulthood.
New: 3 yrs ago I published exposé revealing Richard Hanania used pseudonym to write for Nazi sites Ever since I've watched centrist media rehabilitate him, accepting his ludicrous claim to have left white nationalism behind. My look at what it means, for @marisakabas.bsky.social' The Handbasket
