This happened. I had a Bilateral Orthotopic Lung Transplantation (BOLT). The donor lungs were a little too big for my chest cavity. I spent three days on a vent and ECMO while we waited for everything to fit. I had my best friend and closest family standing vigil over me for three days in ICU. ❤️🩹

There is something brutally psychically injurious to being constantly told "just do good work and you'll be successful" while watching people who do the most dogshit work possible do all the succeeding.

Michael Rader@theoryof.games · 3mo agoI am expecting a call later today telling me I'm officially listed for a double-lung transplant at Duke. Once that happens, I have to be prepared to go in for surgery at any time, day or night. I think it won't really be real to me until that happens.
Some notes now that I’ve seen the transcript of the hearing, thanks to @lizdye.bsky.social . First: the government dismissed the felony count in an effort to convince the judge not to make them produce full transcripts, knowing they showed serious misconduct.
