okay it's been 24 hours and I'm ready to have a take on the comics vs academia conversation: ultimately--but not legally, necessarily, which is a problem imo--the publisher and editors are at fault here. they could have, and should have, flagged that this was a problem. that's *their job*

TBH, this isn't uncommon w/ historical GNs, though this case is especially extreme... Most comic editors aren't familiar w/ best practices for nonfic; creators approach as artists, not journalists/historians. (And yeah, a comic adaptation IS "transformative", but it's still built on others' work.

I kinda want people to think of themselves as having “graduated” from discourses they already weathered. Like, if you try to wade back into one you already did, it should feel like that nightmare where you’re at the prom but you know in your mind that you’re literally an adult and it’s embarrassing.

Hi, I’m selling these stickers and will donate 100% of sales to legal fees and bail funds for the Prairieland defendents. I will be sure to post reciepts! $4 each, DM to order, and please help me spread the word!

A rectangular sticker featuring a long arm stapler on a light purple background. Below the sticker are the words “I only got into zines for the money”.

Drew a little cartoon for my Dad’s card for Father’s Day….featuring him coaching me thru studying for the drivers test and when I blew out his tire last year and got to learn how to use the lift jack… (I still need. To get my license but we are getting there)

Panel 1: Dad showing me car movement using phones to stand in as cars on the table
Panel 2: Dad looking frustrated at a honda civic with flat front right tire with me looking sheepish

Happy father’s day in front of a car lift jack

Dropped by the Captain Tsubasa manga exhibit in San Francisco today, and… it was kind of… underwhelming? It consists of limited edition ($$) large-scale prints of famous scenes from the soccer manga on metal sheets. Up now thru June 21
