Crazy that the AG is like “you said he was planning to take money from the slush fund, which aforementioned slush fund did not yet exist, ergo no harm no foul” and it’s just like, dawg you are the AG and you are defending a crime fund, is that what you dreamt of in law school

VAN HOLLEN: An individual who was pardoned by Trump went on to molest 2 children, & he tried to buy their silence by saying he would give them funds from your slush fund. Can you commit to not making that person eligible for a payout? BLANCHE: You're obviously lying V: I am reporting what he said

A state that redraws its legislative maps before every election to maximize advantage for the incumbent party is not a democracy or a republic and in any case obviously violates the guarantee clause, among many others. No country does this. No country ever thought of doing this. It is a total farce.

NYT framing an historically embarrassing and disastrous 48 hours for the country as some sort of triumph for Trump is certainly a choice

NYT homepage with the headline “Trump touts Greenland framework as nato mulls US sovereignty over bases.”

The subhead reads “Trump’s announcement appeared to draw the US back from the possibility of military and economic conflict with American allies”

This is an incredibly shitty headline and subhead

I wanted to get a video of this ghost crab but every time I got close to their hole they scuttled back in, so I tried getting clever with it. I made a little sandcastle and shoved my phone into it, hit record, and walked away. Crab was VERY suspicious of this addition to their environment.

Instead of regurgitating the bromide that LLMs are just "autocomplete on steroids" (even by people who know better), maybe we can actually engage in some public education. The problem with genAI is better expressed through a classic computer science concept, known as SYMBOL GROUNDING. 🧵

Project 2025 is a jumble of policies, too, but the right has a trifecta and the policies are mostly destructive rather than constructive, so they are easier to implement.

Better late than never. -- In honor of this, which is genuinely wonderful news if it holds, a story. Once upon a time, there was a boy who was born in a tiny village in eastern Turkey. I have been to this village. To get there from the nearest town, you catch a minibus going somewhere else ...

The Court had no problem with nationwide injunctions from District judges when, say, the Biden administration used its explicit statutory authority to "waive or modify" student loan payments, but when Trump wants to nullify the explicit text of the Fourteenth Amendment the practice must end

there is no jurisprudence at work here. the republican court believes that anything a republican president is presumptively constitutional, even if it directly violates the unambiguous constitutional text and causes total chaos in law and policy.

If an administration can get away with falsifying social security records to target individuals, then there is no bottom. There's also no such thing as a "citizen" because that can be changed with a couple button presses too. Mark your SSN and passport as dead then ship you to El Salvador.

what must be understood is that once *some* people can be declared legally dead because they are undocumented, *any* people can be declared legally dead because … well for anything

These are the worst pigs in the universe torturing all children in a not very wealthy state because the chief pig feels personally slighted, and also is demanding other children be tortured and humiliated as he demands. Of course we can't frame it this way in polite discourse for some reason.

Trump admin announces they will terminate all "federal K-12 education funding, including formula and discretionary grants" for Maine's department of education because the state refuses to discriminate against transgender people.
