every woman has wondered whether her dad would take her side or some man's. many of them have learned the answer and often it's not the answer that you'd assume would be the bare minimum expectation for a father

Should the congressman who is credibly accused of beating and throwing scalding water at your own daughter run for re-election? “I don’t know,” says GOP Senator Bernie Moreno www.notus.org/ohio/bernie-...

In May, California generated more than half its electricity from the sun—in what is believed to be a global first. It’s the first time a large-scale power system is known to have surpassed 50% #solar for an entire month. California also made more power from solar than from natural gas in Jan-May.

California produced over half its May electricity from solar, a world record

New batteries to store solar electricity and low demand in May both contributed to high percentage of electricity that came from solar.

I received a very nice and inspiring letter from the Dean of Science for teaching (Plant Development in Spring 2026 semester). Among all the tasks, I always felt least confident in teaching. The teaching evaluation and this letter were helpful for me to be confident. I will keep doing my BEST!

As a Christian raised in a deeply Evangelical area, I feel comfortable saying that the purpose of this is not to convert but to try to confirm their persecution complex. I’ve seen Christians do things like this for my whole life and what they want more than anything isn’t a theological discussion…

Some big news for my lab, and for forests too, I hope! Very excited to join Michigan State in the Plant Resilience Institute, Departments of Forestry and Plant Biology, next fall. Lots of work ahead studying plant #necrodiversity and #WhatKillsTrees with so many new (& continuing) colleagues!

I believe there is no greater generational constant in USA than the high profile snake oil salesman. I bet historians can document trajectory changes in USA purely based on phenomena & gold rushes engineered by snake oil salesmen. ‘I invented a genie’ guy may be their crowning achievement though.

“What we need to explain to the world: Number one, we are close to creating a genie that can grant any wish. Number two, we are going to make sure that our first wishes broadly benefit humanity” - Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI — This is definitely the opposite of Anthropic’s AI kills all jobs pitch.

I was searching for a public domain clip of the wildfires in France for a livestream earlier today, and this is what AI autocorrect on a Google Video search defaulted to. I was actually unable get Google to un-default to "aerial views of french fries" after several attempts:

A screenshot of a Google search for "aerial view of french fires" that auto-defaulted to a search for "aerial view of french *fries*" (with accordingly ridiculous results).
