I can now comfortably say that the measure to extend a 0.2% sales tax that funds ~40% of Spokane Transit’s service hours will pass! Yes: 51,687 (51.78%) No: 48,108 (48.19%) Yes for Buses successfully overcame the third-largest “no” campaign for a transit measure in Washington State history.

After the second day of counting, the measure to extend a 0.2% sales tax that funds ~40% of Spokane Transit’s service hours, plus major capital projects like Division BRT, is still passing! Yes: 37,609 (50.55%) No: 36,240 (49.42%) I still want another couple days of counting, but I’m feeling good.

Spokane’s vote is flying a little under the radar but should be a statewide concern - sustainable funding and a springboard for major expansion faces off against destructive cuts just for the sake of cuts, in a time where the cost of driving is only going one direction

Right now, our transit system is breaking records and delivering real value for our families. I appreciate City Council’s partnership in crafting a package to voters offering a low-cost way to bring people more and better of the cheapest travel option available, public transit.

WE DID IT! The Seattle City Council just unanimously voted to send a bold Seattle Transit Measure to voters in November! Together, we made over 100 public comments and sent in over 5,600 letters to Councilmembers, and they listened. Council decided to pass a measure at the full .3% and 10 years.

By a 9-0 vote, the Seattle City Council just sent a renewal of the 2020 Seattle Transit Measure to voters this November. The 0.3% sales tax measure will ramp up the city's supplemental Metro bus service by 100,000 hours per year, or around a third, on top of funding other city transit programs.

Monday is going to be a huge day: Pierce Transit is set to send a funding measure to voters for the first time since 2012. The added funding would dramatically improve transit service in Tacoma and environs after the agency has had a stagnant funding rate in place since 2002.
