hmm, i've about had it with the bloor street "car lanes" experiment. literally no one uses these things. how can businesses expect to survive when there's no space for customers to linger?

this is deeply and damnably irresponsible, but, also, what’s even the actual benefit for google here? what is the product use case for this?
New from 404 Media: Google Earth has introduced an AI feature that lets anyone fabricate completely bullshit satellite images. In our own tests, we added a “bomb blast and crater” to an area of Los Angeles. This is a misinformation time bomb, will 100% be abused www.404media.co/google-earth...

Really looking forward to seeing Author&Punisher in a couple of months!
Is this good use of free will? Turning a Densha de Go train game peripheral into a sick acid bass controller 😤🚅💨💥
This and also Canva and a million other free browser-based image editors have been around for like 15 years

I know it’s a minor quibble in the scheme of things but I hate how everyone just accepted the AI industry euphemism of “hallucination” to describe the product generating plainly wrong and information
say what you will about AI, always-on voice recording and auto dictation has been a game changer for my workflows. Save post and close app. Yeah Footlong meatball sub on white. No veggies. Don't toast it. Ranch and barbecue sauce. Yeah, ranch and bargecue sauce. More. More. Little more please
i think causing an AI-generated image to manifest outside a computer should land someone a week in jail
I go back and forth on which was the best ever tweet. Currently I think it's this.
I dunno. I feel like we should wait for literally any evidence from anyone except stakeholders with a commercial stake in all of us thinking genAI is capable of doing this before we get too excited about genAI supposedly doing this.
AI has just had its Sarah Connor moment. Last week's rogue AI story has been dismissed by some as marketing. But even a cynical read of the news & other evidence suggests it should be a "warning shot" for the serious disruptive threat of AI that will soon be widely available www.abc.net.au/news/...

Morrissey is a lot like your parents vacuum cleaner: he's fucking sucked since the 1980s
My beef with Morrissey runs all the way back to 1986 when he said this about Black artists. Nineteen Eighty Six, while the Smiths were still active. It’s not a “later phenomenon” don’t try and lie to me www.standard.co.uk/culture/musi...

it's fucked up to think that more time has passed between when Jurassic park was released and the present day than between the dinosaurs going extinct and Jurassic Park being released
public transit teaches you that weird behavior is rarely dangerous, driving teaches you that everyone is trying to kill you at all times
I think if you say "I have created a human being solely to consume them" you should probably be killed even if you're just lying as a sort of marketing bit. I think there should be a standard that this sort of behavior will shorten your lifespan rather than infinitely extend it
There is a lot to say about the Nolan Odyssey movie. But one point that I think has not been emphasized enough is: this is a film about living in LA, as Nolan, my erstwhile British compatriot and age mate, has done for years. I gather it’s a strange place.
just a quick note to everyone replying to this saying "it's fiction how can you make it accurate" or some variation of "historically accurate cyclops lol" save your energy because he is lying and there is not going to be a movie made. just like always. It Won't Happen
JUST IN: Elon Musk says Grok will make a "full-length movie" of The Odyssey that is "historically accurate" by the end of this year.
The actual funny and ironic thing here is the idea of the assessor being so incompetent (and hypocritical!!) that they need to use an AI system themself to check if there is an em-dash in a piece of writing they should actually be reading.
oh come on
Guy who made like 10 of the exact same film where dangerous technology is misused and then it backfires against those who use it is going to genuinely not understand why everybody thinks he sucks now

It absolutely rules that Mark Carney has sucked up as much as possible, quietly dropped opposition, sided with them on international tyranny, joined in on their surveillance state expansion and it did not help us one bit. Mark Carney all time #1 sucker www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026...
