It’s been 6 years, 2 Premiers & 5 Ministers of Mental Health & Addictions (3 full, 2 assoc.) since UCP first promised to build these communities across Alberta And now, with millions of Albertans’ tax $ spent, several are caught in a web of missed payments & alleged crooked contracts. 1/2 #abpoli
Alberta Premier Danielle Smith said construction on 3 recovery centres on Indigenous land will soon finish on budget, subcontractors facing stacks of unpaid invoices doubt it. Plus: One Indig group fired its contractor www.theglobeandmail.com/canada/artic... w @tomcardoso.bsky.social
I don’t know the name other oaks gave it because they have gone, so I called this 400 year old tree Grace, because it’s beautiful Grace is dying, so I regularly walk the 10 mile trip to spend time with her Not a word is spoken, but much is said

"I have cerebral palsy. I am not on AISH. I am not on ADAP. But I have sat across kitchen tables from people who are, watched what this summer has done to their faces, and I have never in all my years writing this column felt as let down by this province as I do right now." #Alberta #abpoli

So well written. No members of our household are on AISH/ADAP. But when Smith's UCPers announced the RICHEST prov in Canada was going to cut those with the least, $200 when the feds increased their cheque by $200 - that was a kick in the pants. This prov gov is cruel to humans - & generous to corps.

🇺🇸USA gun culture is so deeply embedded they can’t even do anything effective to stop suicide by firearm, their leading cause of death by gun. It’s just “cowboy up” for them. The 🍁gun cult wants to bring that culture here. They must be stopped. 🤔🧐😠 www.nytimes.com/2026/08/04/o...

Alberta works, provided you know the premier or share her conspiratorial beliefs.
Want to get your AISH issues addressed? Just have a family member who runs a far right podcast, invoke vaccines and the right hand man to the premier of Alberta will address it personally and directly. #abpoli #ableg #cdnpoli
I’m hosting CBC’s Front Burner for the next two weeks. They were nice enough to start my fill-in stint on a topic I’m rather familiar with: Alberta separatism. My chat with the great @rwarnica.bsky.social: podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/f...

“In a Tuesday social post on X, Smith said Alberta’s police service should be focused on addressing violent crimes, theft, illegal drugs and vandalism — not people’s free speech.” Yeah, and maybe your government should focus on delivering healthcare and education instead of pandering to loons.

If it separates, Alberta would have to reckon with fact that nearly all the oil it exports to US gets shipped through other Canadian provinces. By me: www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

Canada and separated Alberta could reach pipeline shipment deals. But there are no guarantees in trade talks, experts say.

His daughter called the Premier's office for help. She was told this was a federal immigration issue, and that if it dragged on, it would "eventually" affect her father's healthcare. That's it. That's the answer a 90-year-old Albertan and his family got.
His family went before an Alberta judge, decades ago, and were granted citizenship. He has voted here. Paid taxes here. Collected his pension here. None of that mattered at the counter.

"Kenney played footsie with separatist sentiment. He gave vent to anti-Ottawa grievances from the premier’s pulpit that now animate the movement. Yes, he’s now condemning them. But Kenney deserves some of the blame for fanning the flames in the first place." www.theglobeandmail.com/opinion/arti...

Saw a Poilievre clip from an event today and his major slogan was "Faith, family, and freedom". WTF??? So anyone who's not christian, not in a "traditional" family, and who believes in civic responsibility and the means to achieve it is not welcome in the CPC's 🇨🇦. Cause we know that's what he means.
Just another casual reminder that you’re being laughed at by corporates because a) governments facilitate them and b) we don’t push back. Cost of living crisis, for you not for them.
