BRD specializing in ska and cackles, most often in the direction of Crumbling Muscovy.

You can argue that we need to just take the L and cede freedom of navigation in the Hormuz but the fundamental problem is that a lot of American leadership (distinct from Trump) does not believe that to be an acceptable outcome and thus will opt to continue fighting

A lot of people are able to correctly identify why this war started but that does not give us a path to conflict termination which itself is *extremely* distinct from a theory of victory and also does not account for the inertia behind not wanting to throw in the towel

It's an interesting question, but the thing about Putin's regime is that it's functionally the autocannibalization of an ostensibly "normal" (as much as post-Soviet Russia was ever normal) nation by the security apparatus. In a real sense, the FSB *is* the Deep State that Republicans scream about.

I think the fundamental issue here is that the welfare economics of both (a) avoiding catastrophe for Russia's aging population and (b) reintegrating a disgruntled generation of soldiers at the same time are effectively impossible for Russia without prolonged internal fighting over who loses what.

“Everything is fine, morale is great, it’s just you dumb libs and media blowing it out of proportion” *Ends deployment, brings another carrier to replace* “Everything was fine, morale was great, it’s just you dumb libs and media blowing it out of proportion”

It’s also a v accurate view of how many white Americans have seen the US in relation to Central America for generations too. They don’t want these people not doing those jobs, they just want them to be permanently subjugated. And they’ve succeeded in that to some degree.

Understand that the Billionaire class is just absolutely furious that even being that rich doesn’t mean they can own people. It explains so much of their obsessions, from driverless cars and AI to zero hours contracts and migration paranoia.

I think it's key to understanding their worldview that they imagine a world not *without* immigrants, but one in which immigrants' inferiority is permanently asserted and they become a subservient caste. All these people worship the Gulf States.

What is the right-wing vision for a world where immigrants have been deported and public services cut? Care and other services would dry up. The return of living in squalor for those beyond working age? The workhouse? The pauper’s grave?

The attempts to strip birthright citizenship & amend the Constitution by fiat is about subordination: to create a permanent underclass/caste of people without access to rights, protections, privileges, living in the shadows & ripe for exploitation. Plus making POC all suspects of illegality.
