Wow. Proponents of the ICE taser gloves are openly saying that one reason they love the gloves is that they doesn’t leave any marks or proof that they were used, making it harder for people to sue when they’re shocked excessively.

Se habla a menudo de que leer y comprar libros son dos aficiones distintas. Lo mismo pasa con publicar y escribir, también son dos cosas distintas. Hay cosas que uno escribe que no van a encajar nunca con el "gran" mercado y tampoco pasa nada. Para mi lo importante sería haberlas escrito.

Bizarre how this is treated differently to any other market pressure. Especially in this case, where the market has a long history of being disrupted by solo idiots who made their first game in a few months by hand and took over an entire market. Who is this statement even for? Who gives a shit?

For those who don’t follow video games, there is constant policing of any AI use among small, indie developers. They are the most resource constrained firms in a field where profits are rare & artistic vision is often compromised, but they are punished more harshly than big devs by their audience.

Anything without context is absurd. The movie industry used real animals and tortured or killed them. That's why nowadays movies show the "No Animals Were Harmed" disclaimer. Many food industries abused human rights, that's why nowadays we have disclaimers like "100% Fair Trade". See the pattern?

Sunday rant: The idea that we should have to publicly assert that we don't use AI to make games is absurd to me. Before that, wouldn't there need to be a step where AI is demonstrably any good for making games? Do we also have to assert that we aren't working with both arms tied behind our backs?

A certain AAA studio told employees that their internal gen AI was trained only on local data, but whenever said employees tried to generate an image of a woman holding a gun, it generated Lara Croft. The studio was not Crystal Dynamics, and had never worked on the Tomb Raider IP in any capacity.

I just want to mention: Even if your AI somehow runs locally and you think it's okay, it's still using trained data from a pre-existing dataset which is still full of stolen work. The sheer amount of data gen AI needs is in the hundreds of thousands, you can only get that by scraping
