I feel the same way. NIH has been terrible for us, but has been responsible for truly brilliant breakthroughs in other diseases. The one that I think about often is sickle cell anemia - a nightmarish disease that has now been cured in a few people and is on the way to being widely curable.

tbc there were absolutely circumstances that made it traumatic for some. but things like being locked down with an abuser or dealing with mental health issues disabilities psychosis aren’t even part of the conversation, it’s only ever about the separation from social life.

I was forced to go to into
2020 was very hard for me. what I've experienced since then has been awful, but I really dislike narratives of "disabled toughness" or whatever. I'm not tough and I don't want to be. I experience frequent distress from my symptoms even though my #LongCovid is relatively mild. I'm always sadder than

I looked into that endometriosis test in the uk and as far as I can tell, the tests (there are two) haven’t been validated in a large clinical study and are being introduced to see if they help with diagnosis. it seems more like a public private partnership type thing than a breakthrough.

We can't "own" the billionaires by withholding the "farmer" title from them. For one thing, the "farmer" title isn't... like.... bestowed by a mandate of the people anyway. People who own farms will continue to do so, & dictate how agriculture works, whether we call them "farmers" or not.
