I'm putting together a Canada game dev starter pack in response to this idiotic tariff war so people can support Canada-based game devs through follows / purchases if they choose to. Reply if you're a game dev in Canada and you want to be on it. Please repost. Thanks!

Anybody positing that the problem with the games industry is that devs are too expensive is gonna get an instant block. For the cost of one EA CEO you could afford 213 devs making $120k apiece. Read the room, my dudes; a LOT of very skilled people are out of work right now. Profits are trickling up

starting to think it might be bad that the industry at large is producing only two types of games: load-bearing AAAAAs with 5-10 year development cycles that need to make a billion dollars to not be seen as a failure, and predatory dark-pattern live games that…also need to make a billion dollars

Creativity is like a houseplant, not an endless well. You need to seek out sunlight, water, and nutrients in art, shows, music, experiences, and more to tend to it. And just like plants it has its dormant and active periods and you may not seem improvement for some time.

What a shutdown feels like. A shutdown is a response to sensory or emotional overload. Similar to a meltdown, but in this case, the person withdraws, reduces interaction, or stops responding as a self-protection mechanism.

A shutdown feels like turning off all the lights during a storm. It’s my way of protecting myself when the world becomes too much.I can’t speak, think clearly, or react as I usually would. My body and mind simply disconnect, as if saying, “This is as far as we can go for now.” It’s a forced pause because pushing through would be unbearable. From the outside, it might seem like I’m distant or indifferent, but the truth is, I’m fighting internally to regain balance. The energy I usually use to process everything around me runs out, and all I can do is block out the outside world and focus on calming myself.

This 2025 stop calling yourself a "content creator" You're an artist, graphic designer, a video editor, an entertainer, musician, a streamer, a cook, a craftsman, an animator, a storyteller, a writer, a painter, a woodworker, a tailor... You are not a faceless "content" machine.

After about 30hrs of work, I just finished a new move: a Trajectory-Based Wall-Jump! I finally got the endpoint to react to collisions without glitches, which I'm super happy about. I'm considering making a tutorial on this since there aren’t many on trajectory lines in Godot yet. #gamedev #Godot

Continuing with the game dev grind! Today I finished the sprint and crouching controls, which run on a momentum script. It took some time to debug and make tweaking values as easy as possible, but I think I've finally come up with something I like 😄 #Godot #Gamedev #platformer
