Kamala Harris: I know this is going to be controversial coming from me in particular, we need to revisit the electoral college. We need to revisit the point of expanding the court. We need to revisit, if they so want, statehood for Puerto Rico and D.C.

Emmett Till would have been 85 today (b. 7/25/1941). The 14-year-old Chicagoan was brutally murdered by white men while visiting relatives in Miss. in 1955. His murder & the acquittal of the killers made Till an icon of the civil rights movement. Image: Public domain photo taken by Till’s mother.

This black and white photo shows a Black teenaged boy—Emmett Till—wearing a shirt, tie, and hat.

And just from a dad’s perspective, it seems to me one of the explicit aims here is to make black girls feel like they are ugly. Like why else are you angry about a black little mermaid. And yes I take that shit personal.

When I worked in WaPo Opinions in 2017-2018, senior editors specifically told junior editors not to factcheck Marc Thiessen and other MAGA columnists, otherwise they wouldn’t be able to publish anything by them at all, and “we need them for intellectual diversity.”

It’s very telling that opening your publication to MAGA “thought” requires a massive downgrade in quality control.

The Smithsonian Air & Space Museum is effectively a monument to the Apollo 11 astronaut Michael Collins. He was not its first director, but as director he raised money for, helped to design and opened the great building on Jefferson Drive, and expanded the collection to fill it, and beyond.

By pure coincidence, happened to be at the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum today for the first time in my life. They have an exhibit there where this video is shown in a replica of the small triangular window they had to look out of while landing. Absolutely transfixing.

🌕 Today marks the 57th anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon landing. If you have a small telescope, head outside tonight. By a remarkable coincidence, the Moon is almost exactly the same phase it was when the Eagle landed. We'll show you how to find Tranquility Base at capitalweather.com

Tonight, Donald Trump made one thing abundantly clear: He’s going to do everything he can to interfere in our free and fair elections. This is the time for all of us to stand together and fight back.

It’s worth noting that Taco Bell identified the source before the FDA did, and promptly pulled it from their stores. The FDA didn’t even name the source until Taylor Farms outed themselves, and hasn’t issued a recall. Basically, Taco Bell is now a more reliable authority than the FDA.

Taylor Farms, which supplies major fast food and grocery chains, was identified as the possible source of the cyclosporiasis outbreak Thursday.
