Car-blindness is real! Psychologists or sociologists should study this. Giant two-ton boxes flying all around us, piloted by people who have been rendered psychopaths, regularly injuring & killing our neighbors, and many/most people just ... don't register it. It's just background noise.
David Ho@davidho.bsky.social · 4d agoI was talking to my neighbor when a group of cyclists came by at maybe 25 mph. “That’s so dangerous,” she exclaimed. In the meantime, quite a few drivers came by at 40 mph, and she’s completely unfazed. 🤦🏻♂️
Who would have thought a car that you can purchase in a trim named after animal excrement would attract assholes.

SUV pulled into the crosswalk on where the path on Como crosses Lexington so I unclipped and slowly hit the side of their car then yelled about being sorry and how I didnt expect to see a car in the crosswalk.

We need a non-racist equivalent to the South African arms race for vehicular defenses, focused entirely around allowing cyclists to kill and maim drivers too.
"My problem is fucking people are dying." This cyclist responding to a truck blocking a bike lane on Comm Ave is a legend and the guy filming is a douchebag. Being pissed, especially after Louisa's death, is reasonable! Cyclists are expected to be nice, even when our friends are getting killed.
