Good morning, I'm happy to announce the release of Fidget 0.5.0! The big new feature in this release is a WGPU backend for fast 3D rasterization. In places where you can't run a JIT compiler (cough web browers cough), this gives an alternate path for interactive rendering speeds on complex models!
fidget - Rust
Fidget is a library of infrastructure and algorithms for function evaluation, with an emphasis on complex closed-form implicit surfaces.

All farmers are small business owners, and most are millionaires SB owners. You have to abandon sentimentality from old agrarian idyls; these people are small capitalists—literally petty bourgeois—which when you add rural social identity makes them about the most reactionary group this side of 8chan
Some thoughts on how Trump is screwing over American farmers and what it means if many of them still support him. danieldrezner.substack.com/p/american-f...
I rewrote my shaders in Rust. Now they're just as slow, AND they take a lot longer to compile 😎 aww yeah.

We have a new 3D AVBD Web Demo for our "Augmented Vertex Block Descent" method. Thanks, Chris Giles! Try it yourself: graphics.cs.utah.edu/research/pro... Source code available.
One reason we need to stake out the maximalist position on what happens to ICE agents & Trump officials afterwards both loudly and often is that it's morally correct, but another is to make it clear to political opportunists that "we must look forward, not backward" shit will end their careers
[upbeat zohran voice] I'm here at the Palace of Justice in Nuremberg, Germany, where 80 years ago some important progressive work started [smash cut] but hasn't ended. So here's what we're doing:
Amid growing calls for the abolition of ICE, Rep. Delia Ramirez is calling for the entire DHS to be dismantled. Highlighting how much experience the officers who killed Renee Good and Alex Pretti had, Ramirez said, “DHS was built to violate our rights and has been empowered to act with impunity.”
House Democrat Says Abolishing ICE Isn’t Enough — DHS Must Go, Too
“The problem isn’t ‘training.’ DHS was built to violate our rights,” said Rep. Delia C. Ramirez.

it is impossible to miss the difference between the names you see in newspaper headlines and the names you don't see in newspaper headlines
Four months of shootings and deaths. This doesn't even count the neglect and death in their concentration camps. Fuck. This. Shit.
One thing that the past year has done to me is I’ve been forced to drop my principled opposition to capital punishment in all cases
A huge part of Spirit Crossing's visual style is the cel-shading and outlines! Everything is modeled for the appearance of these shaders and how it renders in Unreal. That means using soft edges where you don't want an outline and hard edges where you do.🧵
An unmaintainable codebase is caused by social or economic factors (the manager wants a feature factory, the company has no real competitors, etc). If the same incentives are in place, then an LLM is just a way to go faster in an awful direction.
So the LLM slopcode occupies a similar position to the place "code written by scientists" does now. The pessimistic vision is that a lot of software engineers just spit out slop as fast as they can, continuing the industry's bad habit of trading rigor for velocity to an excessive degree.
While we’re in the streets demanding ICE Out For Good, Democratic leaders are dodging questions about whether an agency that teargasses babies and kills innocent people should continue to have a budget bigger than most countries’ militaries. It’s pathetic.
"defund the police" is where things ended up at, because every police reform victory ended up meaningless because cops could and did ignore them, and that was possible because they could and did threaten local government officials who would have to actually enforce those reforms.
One thing I think gets lost in the Marxist criticism of the Luddites vs the sort of Luddite fandom that's broadened in the last few years: The Luddites lost.
gonna just fully lean into being a stereotypical leftist here: yinz claim to have read marx yet clearly haven't read marx or internalized the ideas within bsky.app/profile/segy...
man, it is sad that harry enten as turned into this. the horserace coverage of 2016 at least didn't have this nihilistic frothing gambler thing going on
CNN is covering the Kalshi prediction markets as though they are news
elon spends all day posting explicit white nationalism on his nazi platform, zuck is vastly more concerned with looking cool to MMA bros than anything else, these are not people who are interested in even pretending to play nice with you anymore treat them as the enemies they are
It kinda raises the question of how many chickenshit democrats are chickenshit, vs how many chickenshit democrats just don't think the constitution should apply to latinos & muslims.
and by making it a dispute over due process and the Constitution, trump made it possible to build a cross-ideological coalition against abrego garcia's removal. it was the most favorable terrain possible and it genuinely blows my mind that ostensible professionals couldn't see it.
I've once again caught the insolent, insubordinate computer doing exactly what we told it to do instead of what we would have liked for it to do
The reason a freakish organization like PSL is able to get credibility with people protesting war or genocide is because they're organized and their members actually show up and take risks. If a liberal or socialist org isn't willing to do that, why should the people taking risks listen to them?
This is a fundamentally dishonest response to someone expecting you to actually show up for the anti-war movement you want leadership of.
Abolish the Senate. I am absolutely dead serious.
Shaheen: "We've heard from a number of our colleagues on the other side of the aisle that they're willing to come to the table, they're willing to work with us once the govt is open to get this done. We've heard the same thing from the White House. So now we'll see if they're really gonna work w/us"
