As a priest who hears confessions: this is bullshit. We (Anglicans) are trained to, if someone confesses something reportable, withhold absolution (and thus the seal of the confessional) until the report has been made. The needle can be threaded. Some church bodies just choose not to.

A Mormon Border Patrol agent sexually abused all 6 of his children for years. He confessed as much to his bishop, who did not report it. Instead the bishop told the wife ... who was later sentenced to jail for not reporting it. The bishop? The AZ Supreme Court says he did nothing wrong.

We had a trainee teacher (m, about, I dunno, 22) in my girls' school biology class once. He carefully drew a lovely diagram of the eye situated in the human head on the blackboard, and then equally carefully labelled the destination of the optic nerve B-R-I-A-N. Poor man.

I'd like to thank the people in our Government who challenge others when they say we need to punish more disabled people for, er, being disabled. Just in case that makes them suddenly stop being disabled, & find magical nonexistent jobs they can do, etc/

I'd like to thank all of the advocates and allies, all of the supporters and carers, who work tirelessly and often for no or little pay, in a system that wants them to starve too (or so it seems). I'd like to thank the media outlets who enable disabled people to say what life is like for them/

It seems relevant that the thing Isaiah is being sent to do in that passage is to deliver a prophecy of doom to his own people for having fallen away from the path of righteousness. So if these guys were like, Isaiah, that would be robustly bad news for...the United States.
