for reasons that only make sense if you're insane, a TPUSA kid complaining about burrito costs on xitter has the GOP's biggest divas going for each other's throats.

"Comics are words and pictures. You can do anything with words and pictures." – Harvey Pekar
Dr. Abdul El Sayed, Melat Kiros and Darializa Avila Chevalier (the latter two are PhD candidates) examples of academics who successfully went out of the ivory tower and talked to regular people and resonated with them. but you'll never hear of this as an example of higher ed being engaged.
In a country with a president who is such a destructive sore loser, politicians who are both helpful and gracious in defeat is a greatly appreciated novelty.
My answer is LOL ROFL (dickbrain) The terminally AI-pilled can't even *imagine* some people have *never* asked stochastic parrots to cheat at their job for them.
If you read fiction and you don't like AI you're a hypocrite. If you eat monster munch and don't like asbestos you're a blacksmith. If you play videogames and don't like stubbing your toe you're a submarine captain. We can all just SAY things. It's not hard.
In “Archives, Collectors, and the New Media Work of Comics,” Jared Gardner effectively argues that comics, comics culture, and comics readers are all, to some degree, archival in nature – that comics speak to the very concept of archiving quite innately. #comicsstudies 1/9
Food, man. Food is so much better than it was in 1986. All of it. Poor-people food, restaurant food, fresh food, frozen food. Food is just a hell of a lot better.
This is another way we live in rape culture; we live in a culture where we have to hear about monstrosity all the time. Sometimes I look at those top stories lists and wonder if I'm the only one who notices that two or three or four of the ten are about violence against women.
It's demoralizing living in a nonstop Abuse-a-thon: we've had to learn the sordid details of so many men's abhorrent behavior; I mean this summer has been Graham Platner, Andrew Tate, Jared Leto, Max Miller, plus the horrific L.A. rape-murder of the child by the rapper, to name a few lowlights.
I swear to God, part of the problem of literacy is that we make kids read SO MANY books like this. Of course they’re going to associate reading with misery! We put them in a Skinner box and shock them when they read, what did people THINK would happen?
Having ranted about school curriculum books, I’ve just seen my son’s summer reading list, and all I can say is “I was right”. A more depressing collection would be tricky to assemble. Are we actively trying to convey to kids the idea that reading is dismal and arduous?
One of the things I don’t think some get about the Wilson critiques of The Odyssey is that one of the only and best ways academics can make our work and expertise relevant and available to the public is to pick a hot topic or newsworthy story and use it as an entry point to that expertise/research
whoa -- Max Miller on CNN threatens Sen. Bernie Moreno with "exposing a deeply and personal embarrassing matter" after Moreno called for his resignation
This is such complete and utter bullshit on the part of Thom Tillis and John Cornyn. Giving the Trump crime family immunity from tax audits remains as corrupt as anything we’ve ever seen in this country. Todd Blanche should be impeached, not confirmed.
JUST IN: Tillis confirms he is on board with Cornyn to vote yes on Blanche for AG, after Blanche renounces Anti-Weaponization Fund in writing & asserts that the waiver of any past taxes due is limited to POTUS, Don Jr., Eric & Trump Org. Earlier: www.politico.com/news/2026/08...
Don't make comics for awards, acclaim, or sales. Make comics for the misfit weirdo thumbing through discount boxes.

There is no version of yourself you could become that would satisfy the people who hate you. So you might as well be who you are.
relatedly, one thing that has happened to me as I have aged is that I have cast off every last vestige of residual Gen X free-speech libertarianism and now believe that some kind of Volksverhetzung is a prerequisite for civilization in a country that has our history of violent racism
I don't hear about it much, but during Reconstruction 2.0, we need a federal domestic terrorism law that can be used to prosecute groups that inspire stochastic terror attacks as well as promote seditionism.
senator bernie moreno finally makes a statement about the allegations of abuse by rep. max miller against his daughter and granddaughter after miller went live on X this morning to deny everything.
Sen. Bernie Moreno finally speaks out on Rep. Max Miller: “If there are any basic standards of character required to hold elected office, Max Miller fails them. He should not serve in the House of Representatives.”
13. Hence our dismal conclusion: rather than finding that LLMs free us to do a better job of what we were doing before they came along, they shift scientific incentives (and the playing field of academic competition) in ways that compel us to do more and more, faster and faster, less and less well.
3. Indeed, LLMs will change the ways that we scientists spend our time. That horse has left the barn. But in this paper, we reach the sobering conclusion that LLMs are not likely to fulfill our fantasies of freeing up more time for leisurely contemplation or more thorough investigations of nature.
Oh so when Troy Jackson marries his second cousin it's weird but when Rhaenyra Targaryen and Laenor Velaryon marry it's politically acceptable

Trump administration drops Reflecting Pool case, blaming damage on ‘botched’ installation
The Justice Department said “it is difficult to attribute the widespread damage to the Reflecting Pool to vandalism, let alone to establish that fact beyond a reasonable doubt.”

I, for one, am done with NCTE. The organization has disrespected and deprioritized writing studies and now is gaslighting the discipline with not even halfhearted measures. NCTE has not been clear, honest, or transparent & it's not an org I trust. They aren't listening. ncte.org/press-update...
