Personally, I think it would be embarrassing to have to acknowledge the use of AI in the production of academic work, particularly at the sentence level.

I lost my status in the UK in 2013 and had to leave the country. Many people said “it’s awful you are being made to leave” - I felt great, until - “when so many of those [fill in blank] just walk in!” It was astonishing that what happened to me was considered unfair solely because of my race.
"Then go back to your country," never seems to apply to white people.
All this. The Alberta separatists are just a front for American fashy bullshit, in the hopes of weakening up Canada towards seizing advantage / forcing hard rightward shifts to placate them / division and absorption (whichever they can get).
So the separatists in Alberta have been conspiring with the Republicans. I'm shocked, shocked to find that gambling is going on in here! apple.news/ARrl_roHNSSG...
I have students write out and sign a no-AI agreement. They draw my AI policy. I tell them every class not to use it. And STILL I found a student using it in class, fucking hell, it is disheartening to teach these days. Just want to thank our institutions and politicians for abandoning us wholesale
I promise you if I tried this even once I'd be hauled up into a disciplinary. But Dr Orr? Little research, no teaching, no problem. www.varsity.co.uk/news/32175
Orr’s lectures covered by a postgrad
James Orr had a postgrad cover approximately seven lectures, allegedly without the Divinity Faculty’s knowledge

Somebody pissed me off on Facebook literally as I was about to close my laptop and go to bed, and now I can feel my heartbeat so strongly in my ears and neck that I can’t sleep. Please send advice to help me relax because I can’t take another night of insomnia/wakefulness.

it isn’t carceral to say someone shouldn’t be a wealthy public figure. it doesn’t violate your free speech rights when I say I wish you would shut up. you do not have a legal right to be beloved
We're gonna set fire to everything but don't worry we are also gonna spend money to polish a few fire extinguishers.
Canada makes the international science news. 😐 “Carney’s government announced CA$1.2 billion to be spent over 4 years to protect the marine environment, which could be under heavier pressure from marine traffic if the controversial pipeline moves ahead.” www.science.org/content/arti...

Good thing Liberals are ramming another pipeline through the country with no review and highly criminalized protest!
Records come and records go. But this is one for the ages. The preliminary Nino 3.4 sea-surface temperature anomaly is now at a record 3.23°C above the 1991-2020 baseline. This crushes the previous daily record set in 1982 by over 1.14°C. The Climate 8-ball is looking up.
The Union of B.C. Indian Chiefs has joined a growing chorus of First Nations voices in denouncing the 'Pacific Link' pipeline-Grand Chief Stewart Phillip is promising a legal fight and possible 'boots on the ground.'
First Nations along the 'Pacific Link' pipeline route are speaking out about the lack of consultation by the Carney government over the project now designated in the national interest. One is pondering legal action. www.aptnnews.ca?p=295352
Mark Carney wants us to believe expanding planet killing fossil fuel extraction is somehow noble
Carney's first-ever project designated as being in the “national interest" is...a crude oil pipeline. That means the oil pipeline can bulldoze past environmental laws, impact assessments, and Indigenous consultation. It can also kill all of Vancouver's orcas. Here's what you need to know:
On this day I’m thinking of all residential school survivors - my aunties and uncles and grandparents and in particular but also Phyllis Webstad, the founder of the Orange Shirt Society whose memoir I wrote the foreword for - check it out!
On this National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, I wrote up a few thoughts on settler Canadian responsibilities, and put together a list of resources. Please read and/or share. allygned.wordpress.com/2026/09/30/n...

This is foul. A reader reached out and told me the first google result when you search "kamloops unmarked graves discovery" is residential school denial. I did the search myself, and I found the same thing. The first non-sponsored result is the Fraser Institute's residential school denial.
Huge news! Charges against Eris Nyx and Jeremy Kalicum, founders of the Drug User Liberation Front, have been stayed. Judge found parts of Canada's drug laws are unconstitutional and that the compassion club reduced the harms associated with the toxic drug crisis. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

Why is this question ‘*How* are you using AI?’? I AM NOT USING AI. Do not assume that I am using AI! AI sucks. I cannot see any moral or ethical case for using generative AI.
Worth noting that this means if you message someone who is using Meta Muse, *even if you don't have Muse or any other Meta products installed yourself*, Facebook is reading your private communications.
Meta Muse appears to read your Apple messages and upload them to the cloud even if you explicitly tell it not to: appleinsider.com/articles/26/...
He just said that Indigenous knowledge will help the government to ensure that the ocean waters “remain safe, sustainable and healthy for future generations and for all the life that lives in them.” WHAT ABOUT THE SOUTHERN RESIDENT ORCAS YOU’RE GETTING POWERS TO DRIVE TO EXTINCTION MARK? MARK???
Ragebaiting myself by watching Carney announce “ocean protections” while he’s massively escalating tanker traffic for oil and gas exports
The Ontario government has regularly paid private nursing services to fill gaps in coverage. Rather than just hiring more nurses, they would prefer to pay a private company way more money. There is only one reason to do this and it isn't *improved service* or to *reduce wait times*.
Global News interviewed @alonghurst.bsky.social about how the #Ontario government is aggressively privatizing surgeries and medical imaging—core hospital services—as wait times increase. #onpoli @policyalternatives.ca globalnews.ca/video/120763...
Update: environmental groups say yeah, this announcement isn’t sufficient to mitigate the harms of the powers the government is giving itself with respect to endangered species (like the whales!). Soooooo a nice move in general, but insufficient in context. Which means Carney is indeed full of it.
I’m reaching out to environmental groups and advocates now to get the expert read on all this, but as I understand things now, I’m appalled.
This bold faced lie is actually appalling in its audacity. What he’s saying is NOT true if a project is deemed in the national interest!! Which he applied for the whale-killing port expansion to be!! And if C-39 passes, even the conditions won’t necessarily apply!!!!
Members of fraternities are three times more likely to be rapists than male college students who aren’t members of fraternities
One of the main reasons fraternities still exist is that membership signals to potential employers that you’re capable of keeping institutional secrets, even when it means covering up illegal behavior.

If we are serious about dismantling patriarchy and rape culture, we would stop calling it Cornell 7. It's the Cornell 57. Passive bystanders are a pillar of misogyny. Men must actively intervene in shifting social norms & refuse to participate in rape *culture* Its the Cornell 57, not Cornell 7.
Loud cheers for both Babcock and Formenton Burn in hell Edmonton
Loud cheers for both Babcock and Formenton in Edmonton. Just a reminder that sports fan outrage is performative at best and can be easily shut down if you just drape it in your favorite team's colors and logo.
All I can really say from the other side of the pond about fraternities is that there are severe consequences for your society when you let the ritual pig fucker clubs get away with it.
