In principle, the app did not do this, the person who put it in progress did. Ages ago, the law had to work out who should be responsible if a person's agent goes rogue in the course of that agency arrangement.

Think this is great (Marie, not the trend). I'd argue as well the trend is the result of the parasocialisation of everything. The relationship with the creator is part of the product. The OF girl isn't selling pictures, she's selling the idea she might like you back.

I'm glad we are having the conversation about these things though. For too long tech companies unleash things on the public and just wait for slow acceptance but (as the privacy commissioner said this week) trust in tech companies is so low that they seem to have zero social licence now.
Did not predict that when I wrote this story on Monday it would blow up as it has this week to the point of the privacy commissioner suggesting new laws may be needed and the AG warning about the dangers.
