Hand-drawn art, and vibes. I love vivid colours and series consistency. @professoremily.bsky.social 's cover for Gods of Atalantis is a personal favorite. #pretendpanel

Vampire story idea: Vampires are out in the open, the vampire rights act has passed, they can work, they can vote, they can own property, BUT, making new vampires is illegal, punishable by death

So, even though FiaVLT is primarily set on an island, and on a pirate ship travelling the waters around said island, all my instances of 'float' involve flight instead of water. 😅 #SundaySnips #HQPress #WriteSky

As I hovered, silently investigated a delicate family of sleeping birds in their nest, a voice behind me pierced through the tranquil air, “Oh Wendy! I am so overjoyed you’re finally awake!” I turned my head, finding Peter sitting on an adjacent tree branch, smiling broadly.

“Peter,” I gasped, retreating some feet. He appeared to be unarmed, and devoid of any ill intentions, but the last time I thought so he had run me through with a dagger.

“Look at you,” he marvelled, propelling himself off his perch to float closer to me, “You look radiant. You seem to have taken to this faster even than Nibs, no mean feat.”

“Peter, I do not understand,” I begged him, floating down until my bare toes touched the dew-kissed grass. Sensing my unease, Peter descended gracefully, his expression now etched with puzzlement. “What has happened to me?”

“Why, I saved you, of course,” Peter said in a matter-of-fact manner. “I made you a proper Lost One, like Nibs and Tootles and the others.”

#SundaySnips Floating on the waves of orgasms, yes. From my Xmas short WIP, in which an older flight attendant ends up in a hotel bed with the sexy French pilot.

August was still floating, trying to breathe in all that fire. Tears lingering at the edge of his eyelids, burning. But he never let them out, swallowing them instead. Stroking a hand in his soaked black hair.
Désiré caught his hand and gave it a large kiss, not leaving his eyes. “Amazing… I knew it.”
August’s face flamed up. “Glad you think so…”
Désiré’s fingers glided down his cheek. “Any plans for these two days in Paris?”
“I haven’t really thought about it… I haven’t even reached my room yet.”
Désiré’s lips curled up. “This is a double room?”
His heart leapt in his throat. “I can’t stay here…”
“Why not? You said you had no plans.”

Rough WIP from Year 2 of Philosopher Queens (my other 'floats' are either published not WIP, or NSFW). Katie & Kyle are in their HEA and AJ (Kyle's son) is just about to start his big romance arc. But it's off to a sad start. At least Katie is already feeling motherly & comforts him. #SundaySnips

I just wanted to relax and have fun goofing off at the pool for a bit. I guess if there was already a pall over the day, then Jason’s call is better now than ruining a different day.

I turn and walk back over to everyone. Rachel is floating in the pool, and I know her well enough that she won’t be the first one to ask, but she will not hesitate to voice her support for me. Probably even ask if I want to go burn pictures of him or fly across country to slash his tires or something.

My money is on Katie asking first.

After I toss my phone on the table a bit harder than intended, she walks over and places a hand on my shoulder. “What is it, AJ? You want to talk about it, or is a distraction better?”

Even before I finished the call, I already decided how I would tell them. Try one of Dad’s patented “turn it into a joke” maneuvers to avoid painful emotions. “Well, I didn’t know what word to call Jason’s and my ‘relationship’.” I make the finger quotes. “At least now I have a word for it…” Unfortunately, my voice cracks and betrays me anyway. “Over.”

Katie pulls me into a hug and I hug her back. I wish Dad was here, so I could cry into his shoulder like I’ve done after every major break up. Katie is a wonderfully comforting replacement, however.

#SundaySnips Working on my short story collection and there’s one instance of that word. Heres the quiet intro to a quiet story…

2/16/22

RJ closed the book. It had to have been the tenth time that day that he’d opened it. It had to have been the hundredth time that week that he’d read through at least most of it. It was becoming a habit, as if he could find what was lost by reading and re-reading the last pages he had written. Checking again and again the last place you saw something to see if it was still there even though you knew it wasn’t, like a dog that had once found a treat hidden under the rug and now turned the rug over every day in search of another, despite how tidy the house always was. He tapped the book on his knee. He had to stop, but he just wasn’t ready to let go.
Daylight brought the tiny dust-motes floating through the living room into view, streaking from between the velvet curtains which were impossible to take care of. He didn’t want to look at them, or the dust, but couldn’t bring himself to open or close them to change the way the light fell. It brought too many complicated feelings, so he turned back to the book, then stopped himself. There would be nothing new. The last words would always be the same

"float" Nothing like jumping over the side of an exploding ship... Well unless you can't swim... From my #WIP A Conspiracy of Ravens #SundaySnips @hookandquillpress.com #WritingCommunity #Writingprompts #Writesky #HQpress

They leapt over the side just as an explosion tore through the belly of the ship, the Orpheus erupted with a blast; wood, flames, and cloth hurled skyward like shrapnel from a cannon. The shockwave slammed into the river, spraying them with boiling fragments and soot. By the time they surfaced, Adewale could see Ned swimming away, he began to follow before seeing Latimer struggling to stay afloat, he had no choice and swam back to the constable and held his head above the water. The vessel was now nothing more than burning driftwood and black smoke.

So, I'm getting ready just now for a wedding I'm honestly not too hyped to go to when a a back and forth exchange popped into my head: Char 1: "I shaved my pits for you!" Char 2: "I never asked you!" I might need to work that into a WIP somewhere, but it's up for grabs if anyone else wants it. 😄

#lesficfri ***DANCE*** I loved writing this chapter for a lot of reasons, but Liv is probably #1 because of the patience that character needed to have (and is greatly rewarded later in this scene). ❤️ 🌈📚 #FLBC #sapphic #lesfic #sapphicwriters #writingcommunity #writingcommunity #writingprompt

As Liv led Stella through the crowd of people and across the barn towards the make-shift dance floor, it beat even faster. But it was when she turned to face Stella and their eyes met that she felt her heart stop. She drew Stella closer and began to move with the music.
“You had your pick of partners,” Stella said. “Why me?” She didn’t meet Liv’s eyes when she asked.
Liv’s soft, earnest smile returned. “I wanted to dance with you.”
“But why? You could dance with anyone—”
“They were not you. You are the most beautiful woman here.” She steadied her voice. “You are always the most beautiful woman in the room.”

I don't regret pulling my ebooks from Amazon, or cancelling Prime (I loved WOT!) or not buying shit from them. I just wish I could do all of those again, & again & again They don't even have the decency to have a physical Aussie store I can picket weekly, in retaliation to this attack on our planet
