Show me your pet and who or what they are named after. (We can't take credit because he's a rescue and we didn't choose his name but somehow it suits him.)
Show me your pet and who they are named after (I'm sorry - I have no surviving photos of my guy, so it's a stock photo that looks super close. When I was ten he was my world.)

Farage has turned Clacton into a human zoo. Here’s the truth about what’s happening here | Sarah Elizabeth Cox
When I moved to the town in 2022 I loved the beach walks, cheap drinks and panoramic coastal views. Now it feels like a never-ending circus, says historian Sarah Elizabeth Cox

And if you do not have access to a colander, you can stand under a leafy tree and look at the ground. The random little gaps between the leaves create the same pinhole-camera effect and the whole ground will be covered with tiny eclipses.
For thousands of years, a solar eclipse has been a prophetic harbinger of a spectacular, epoch-making event. Just saying. #VoteBinface #Clacton

Thanks 😁👍 I’m definitely in that category. All of my work is made from everyday recycled bits and pieces. 😁

I've just added so many new zines I'm not sure where to even start with telling you about them all, but Mika's wonderful titles seem like a good set to begin with. @mikagratzke.bsky.social #diyzines
My family were… not exactly conversationalists when I was growing up. So: this is how, like a lot of people, I absorbed a lot of my vocabulary. Still is, to be honest. Better to crack at it and mangle the thing, than let it lie in a mental drawer, filed as an exotic beast for others to play with.
Be cautious about criticising someone for mispronouncing a word - it is usually because they learned the word by reading.
My son on Clacton Pier this evening 🎡🎢♥️🤜🏻 The helter skelter was built in 1949, brought to the pier in the 1970s, and recently refurbished. It's lovely! I like to think the boxing machines are a tribute to the pier owners' great great grandfather, top 1880s middleweight boxer Alf Ball. In my book! 🥊
Amazingly fast work from @selfmadehero.bsky.social and 30+ comic artists (including meeeee) mean that this book will be out in time for the Clacton by-election. Available at @goshcomics.bsky.social from 6 Aug, pre-orders open now.
Re the Emily Wilson discourse - her Dad (A N Wilson) was the king of literary feuds. A good family tradition. Best one was his feud with Bevis Hillier who hoaxed him into including a fake letter in his biography of Bejteman where the first letter of each sentence spelt "AN Wilson is a shit".
My Dad was an official photographer for Blakes Seven and I have a big boxful of behind-the-scenes photos that I don’t know what to do with. Does anyone know a museum or fan publication that would want them? Seems a shame to throw them away.
If confirmed Miatta Fahnbulleh as Energy+Net Zero Secretary, Angela Eagle as Environment Secretary, and Jonathan Reynolds as Business Secretary is good news for the green economy. Strong signal of both support for ambitious reforms and continuity around some of the better parts of the govt's agenda.
