Everyone in the audience is probably flagging down the waiter for more wine and checking their phones
whatever magic Trump once had as a public speaker to non-cult audiences is long gone
Never ever apologize for getting someone's book from the library. A lot of them were written by authors who themselves first read a lot of other books in a library
Someone said to me, "I'm sorry but I got your book from a library." Nobody should ever apologise for that. You read my book! That's brilliant! I grew up hanging out in libraries and the idea of a world without them fills me with dread. Without libraries, authors, like readers, will only suffer.
Always felt Bruce’s dedication to JEREMY THATCHER, DRAGON HATCHER captured her generous spirit beautifully:
You‘ve probably had French Toast, but my mum used to make a Bangladeshi version - bread fried with egg mixed with chopped onion, green chill, fresh coriander and a good pinch of salt:

TOPIC: When you're pitching your manuscript (in any form - query letter, elevator, pitch contest), how do you communicate how the reader is going to FEEL when they're done, not just tell the story of what happens? What are your tips to finding the way to give a reaction to your pitch-ee? #kidlitchat
So I’ve started Pride and Prejudice, and already I feel bad for Mrs Bennet.
Like, literally every single thing that they talk about in terms of handling knowledge of Wickham being a predator (is he even a gold-digger?? Lydia’s not rich!) is stuff that my colleagues and I have LITERALLY navigated! It happens so much in publishing, and it’s always this messy!
Jane is finally moved to harsh judgment upon finding out that Wickham is a gambler. I guess everybody has their line? Mine would have been kidnapping my baby sister with incredibly dubious intentions and total inconsideration of its effects on her kin, but I suppose that’s a personal thing.
WICKHAM: “I am going to be a man of God. No, wait, a man of the Law. Ah, screw it, I want to molest a child.” This seems INCREDIBLY on the nose for 2026 for some reason.

Just had meeting with kiddo's school. She has been fully supported, treated with full equality & dignity for years. All of that changes from September. Full segregation & humiliation across the board. The school staff cried in the meeting. This will absolutely lead to children's deaths 1/2

I love the phrase "writers and poets" because it suggests poets aren't writing but instead doing something far more sinister
