seeing a lot of VA progressives and even RVA DSA folks basically crash out because there weren’t really any headliner prog upsets here, and honestly it’s disappointing! VA-1 remains an R-leaning district where I’d expect a moderate to do well. Meanwhile, Warner and VA-4’s McClellan ran *unopposed*!

part of the reconstruction should be to restore the legislative veto. If Congress can delegate its power to the President, it can set the terms of that delegation—and the terms by which they can revoke it.

For the past five months the only refugees the USA has accepted are white South Africans fleeing equality & safety meanwhile they are disappearing or strapping ankle monitors on any Haitian they can get ahold of. It needs to be understood how thoroughly connected these two things are.

this shift of power to the president is bad— it destabilizes our system, removes checks and balances. I have also been persuaded by @joshchafetz.bsky.social and others that Chadha was a big, destabilizing shift of power to the president. It’s a multi year problem.

genuinely think any elected officials who aren’t paying attention to this are playing with fire, this is wild stuff. the kind of cross-coalitional, outside-context fury that can upend politics, like the backlash to school desegregation that fed the rise of the religious right in the 70s.

Despite the fact that data centers weren't on the agenda, all the people who spoke during public comment - which took up about 18 minutes of the 22-minute-long meeting - brought up issues of transparency with the commissioners. "I guess my question is, where is the interaction and when do the public get to ask questions and receive answers?" Lucy Reid asked. People can contact commissioners any time to have conversations with them outside of meetings, Wankel said. "I think we're available at any time if you would like to contact any of the commissioners that you're able to do so and have that interaction," Wankel said.
