When your party leader is a president with historically low approval ratings, who has raised prices through tariffs and wars, uses disaster relief and science grants to punish states that didn’t vote for him, and has agents shooting people in the streets, this is what you do.
Don’t be the Christopher Moltisanti of the party improv class!
I encourage all of us to have the grace and focus shown in this going up within minutes of the race being called.

BREAKING: The New Mexico Department of Justice has sued Acting AG Todd Blanche and the DOJ, requesting the court for access to unredacted Epstein-related investigative files that the DOJ has been withholding.
Former J6 federal prosecutors are begging senators -- mostly GOPers, but a handful of Dems are in there, too -- to stop confirming election deniers to lifetime federal courts seats. “Please stop poisoning our courts." www.huffpost.com/entry/live-u...

This is why this is not just about Max Miller. It’s about “devout Christian” House Republican leadership who is standing with this guy because they crave power above all else. It’s the culture of MAGA and it comes straight from Trump. Vote them out.
Never forget: republicans not only sold their souls, they sold out the country, the rule of law and your freedom. It’s their job to rein him in. They chose not to.
I spoke with 10 CNNers about David Ellison's essay in The NYT, in which he tried to convince the public he'll be a good steward of CNN. Suffice to say, no one at the network is buying what he's selling. “We all have eyes and ears and see what’s happening at CBS." www.status.news/p/david-elli...
The Ellison Credibility Crisis
The Paramount boss tried to convince the public he can be trusted with CNN. But staffers inside the network torched his Times essay in brutal comments to Status, pointing to his disastrous record at C...

One way to be safe is to never write an electability take
the intentional abdication by Congress of nearly all of its constitutional responsibilities is at the core of most of our problems as a nation
Cornyn: "There's nothing we could do to rein in the president"
The sovereign power of the United States reduced to “they better not be.” What an embarrassment.
“They better not be…”

Ezra Klein is wrong: shame is essential.

Everywhere should be a hostile place for Republicans. They should not be able to find a friend anywhere. They should lose all their professional and familial relationships. They should be blocked from signing up to social media platforms, clubs, and yard sales. They should be ejected from fairs.
All their future revenues depend on tech companies effectively stealing and pay-gating human knowledge and renting it back to its creators. This is morally unsound and these companies deserve to reap the whirlwind.
Analysts estimate that 70%+ of Microsoft, Google and Amazon's present and future AI revenues are from Anthropic and OpenAI's compute spend and model sales. Outside of two unsustainable AI labs, demand barely exists, and they've massively overbuilt capacity. www.wheresyoured.at/the-ai-deman...
I wrote about the definition of genocide, and how—contrary to public discourse—genocides are not unusual, but are an accepted part of state action and policy. www.everythingishorrible.net/p/genocides-...
Genocides Are Not Uncommon
It is politically convenient to treat them as rare.

There is no way that betting on wildfires should be legal. www.oregonlive.com/wildfires/20...
As Oregon burns and gamblers bet, lawmakers push back against wildfire betting markets drawing millions
Wyden and Merkley are urging federal regulators to crack down on prediction markets that allow users to wager on how long wildfires will burn and how much damage they will cause

No one in public life talks about red states this way.
Trump: "Look at the blue cities. What do they have in common? They're all dirty. They're filthy dirty. Their streets are dirty. Their streets smell. Their storefronts are broken. Their trees are all gross. Everything about the place is dirty. It's really all of them."
it wouldn't solve all of america's problems but legalizing non-dealer models of car sales would probably defang a lot of the GOP donor class

New polls show Trump losing support among the groups at the heart of his supposed 2024 political realignment, @dgraham.bsky.social argues:
Americans Are Turning on Trump
The president’s big gains with Black, Hispanic, and young voters in 2024 suggested a major shift. Less than two years later, he has lost those new supporters.

0% of these critics have a coherent definition of Democracy, let alone Socialism.
And then there are paragraphs like this in there. What does this even MEAN. Are state-subsidized grocery stores full-fledged socialism? What part of the Constitution forbids state-subsidized grocery stores in the rest of the nation but allows them in New York?
This is such a lazy piece. It's like "this is a price control, and price controls always fail." First, it's not a price control. It's a government subsidy. Second, price controls don't "always" backfire. They prevent gouging in emergencies and help regulate monopolies.
Opinion: Mamdani's idea may sound appealing, but it's NYC taxpayers who will take the hit, subsidizing discounts they may never even use.
If you have hundreds of accounts isn’t that prima facie money laundering? Hundreds?
ABC has picked it up now. "Capital One says it closed hundreds of Trump's bank accounts in 2021 'for anti-money laundering reasons'"
I love the coverage of this stuff, as if a corrupt fascist kakistocracy is capable of building a useful "framework for AI"

The White House said it met its deadline to establish a voluntary framework for evaluating advanced AI models — but it won't say what the framework contains.

the next president has a duty to the country to prove that “tax immunity” is a completely made up thing that doesnt exist. they need to do this through intense prosecution to signal to future leaders what will happen if they try this
FLAG: Trump gets to keep tax immunity for himself, his sons, and the Trump Organization under the new 'deal' struck by Todd Blanche. The new order also reaffirms that Trump won't have to pay any taxes he might have owed the IRS.
