i hate that it seems like there is a new lolcow being produced every week, and we're supposed to be under the impression that they are the worst person to ever exist...only to find out that they're just extremely cringe at worst, but ultimately harmless outside of the court of social media 😒

so in English we call the digits 01234... "Arabic numerals", right except they're not primarily used by Arabic speakers, who use ٠١٢٣٤... well I just discovered that in Arabic *those* numbers are often called الأرقام الهندية, i.e. "Hindi numerals" except Hindi uses ०१२३४...

Side note from studying Arabic in college: if your brain is wired for pattern recognition + systems thinking, it's a particularly cool language to learn because of its organized structure. Like Hebrew, it uses a 3-letter consonant root, which you then build off to create related words.
