Aug update from ECMWF predictive ensemble is genuinely extraordinary from extreme #ElNiño perspective. One implication: it is now indicating not only 70-100% odds of above avg winter precip California-wide, but also 70-100% odds of DJF 26-27 being among the top 20% of wettest CA winters (!).

It’s 2026 and I live in the United States of America, and I’ve been having fantasy dreams about eating vegetables, like I’m shipwrecked on a desert island. The absolute stupidest time to be alive.

I’m afraid that too many people don’t understand just how terrible the Biden pandemic response was—and how it contributed to Trump’s return. I also fear that given how much this administration has dismantled public health, the appetite for looking back and identifying points of failure is low.
