my hot take is that spotify wrapped primed everyone to feel like they need to have data for every single facet of their life that they can then manipulate for performative purposes or draw deeper insight from for the sake of insight

My autistic transgender kid has not been in school for a few years due to life-threatening bullying/abuse trauma & turns 18 next year. Kiddo wants to have a party at a park with a karaoke machine, & fly friends in/put them up in a hotel for the weekend. Like a bright spot in years of darkness.
Saw a post saying "I don't want NSFW accounts to talk about voting, just let me jack off" Buddy, NSFW artists and sex workers are being constantly attacked by a government of nonces trying to distract from their own crimes by pinning the blame on porn. They have the right to speak up about this.

www.gocomics.com/luann/2026/0... I keep thinking about For Better or For Worse and the story line where College Aged Liz moves in with her (later revealed to be a cheater) boyfriend and the morality constraints that (most) syndicated comic strips operate under.

This has major tumblr vibes. Like "what if everyone had a tattoo/mark that blinked when their soulmate got close" stuff, but with a ton of unexamined fetish stuff baked into the worldbuilding.
i'm locked in on this film sorry to anyone else
I have been a lifelong hater of Good Charlotte ever since they released “Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous” and somehow there are 3 rich and famous people offered as examples in that song and they’re all Black. Real specific choices about who gets called out for “always complaining”
You know how sometimes there's a thing that's so enraging you just can't get mad? Like it's just so over the top there's no point engaging? You can't fully recognize or acknowledge it? Therapeutic day schools are a thing that exist and are exactly what my kid needs and nobody involved in my kid's
I saw one of his pieces at the Palm Springs Art Museum and it was fabulous
It's Textile Tuesday, and you know what that means: a piece by artist Faig Ahmed called "The Dragons of Karabakh" that's woven to look like an antique Central Asian carpet is melting off the wall into a puddle. More about the artist here: faigahmed.com
There's also a recording of Bradbury himself reading it and several other of his stories. archive.org/details/Brad...

This is Loki, our Maine Coon and the cat of our hearts, and he went missing today. We have no idea how he got out, but he’s an elder, indoor cat, the whole region’s in an intense heat wave, and we’re really scared. I doubt I have any followers here in Martinez, CA, but if so, help? It’s SO hot
Cleaning out some files and came across this—copyright 1977!
I was talking to a friend and realized that a lot of people don't know that officially Karen Carpenter died because of side effects of re-feeding. They fed her so aggressively that it damaged her heart. It's 2026 so the re-feeding process is at least in theory better but anorexia has a long tail.
This is so horrifying. I visited Spokane for the first time this spring & was so moved by the kindness & hospitality I was shown. Wishing everyone safety & care.
'Never seen it this bad': Thousands evacuated in north Spokane as wildfire crosses river into city
A wildfire driven by high winds jumped the Spokane River Saturday afternoon, burning homes and quickly moving into the Indian Trail Neighborhood.

Today's my block's first annual block party. I slept terribly last night and am super stressed about work so i did not attend but people REALLY had fun and I'm glad that it happened. However. The speakers are directly outside our building. And music has been playing, loudly, for ten hours.
Good teens generate revenue. Bad teens want to enjoy public spaces for free.
From the Editorial Board: Sparkly, semiattired Lolla kids are this weekend swarming around such oft-deserted environs as Van Buren Street, Jackson Boulevard and State Street. Welcome. Your presence and youthful energy could not be more timely.
Hey, so August 7th is the next Bandcamp Friday! That means that all purchases that day go directly to the musicians (instead of the usual 85%, which honestly is already a really good split). I'm reminding everybody now because I tend to forget! daily.bandcamp.com/features/ban...
