We need to regulate the height of vehicles in the country. This truck outside my building is massive. I’m 5’10” and the hood is at my neck! You could fit a school bus worth of children in his blind spots.

I had strong priors against LLMs for medicine. There are a lot of doctors in my family and I grew up viewing doctors as careful, skilled professionals. I had plenty of bad medical experiences, but I thought it would be hard to do better. Then an LLM found a cure for my 2 decade chronic condition...

Remember this picture, & others like it, every time you hear someone in your city say "we're not Amsterdam." This was #Amsterdam in the 1970s. Many of the cities we admire made tough choices regarding cars in the past, and are still making better choices today. Better choices instead of excuses.

What goes up must come down. And with a heavy-duty vehicle, that’s quite a lot. Thanks to regenerative braking – using the electric motor to convert motion into ⚡️ for the battery – far less energy is lost, meaning that driving in the mountains is not much different from driving on flat terrain.

An electric truck operating in the mountains uses less energy than a diesel SUV "from Nov. to Feb., energy consumption on this route averages 92 kWh per 100 kilometers, equivalent to 10 liters of diesel. With recuperation of 25 kWh per 100 km, the system operates with particularly high efficiency."

Pretending that education is just job training and that it should be stripped of all non-utilitarian elements is one of the worst ideas in the history of ideas. Acting like it's some kind of axiom we should be using to orient ourselves at the moment is disastrously wrong-headed.

“Great documentation” can be a killer feature. It’s been the deciding factor for me on occasion. It not only means I'll be able to use it more easily, but belies an attitude of caring and completeness from the team. Not everything valuable is a “feature.”

12.7M acres of solar is is about 82% of the solar required to decarbonize the US in the Net Zero America E+ scenario (there's wind and existing nuclear and stuff in there too, but that's the solar portion). Or we can have 5% of our gasoline displaced.

The Farm Bureau estimates that a year-round increase from E10 to E15 (15% ethanol blend in gasoline) would increase US corn demand by 2.4 billion bushels a year. Latest yields per USDA are 188.8 bushels/acre, so growing it requires another 12.7 million acres. That’s about half the size of Indiana.
