(CW: sexual harassment) I’ve given a lot of thought to the news surrounding the conduct of the Mayor, but I’ve struggled to attach a word to how I feel. The closest I’ve gotten is “heartbroken” in a number of ways. 1/
This is why I am calling on Mayor Her to exercise better judgment and resign. Abusers do not belong in public office.
When Pres. Trump and other men demean, belittle, or harass women- it is wrong. When Mayor Her harassed men in her workplace, it is just as wrong. Society often ignores when women sexually harassment men, or make jokes of it. But male victims deserve justice and fair treatment as well.
Too often, victims of sexual harassment (especially in the workplace) are forced into silence and made to endure unsafe working conditions because they cannot speak out. We have to be clear that this is unacceptable in every workplace, and the halls of government are no exception.
As an elected official, Mayor Her has a responsibility to the citizens she represents to comport herself with the utmost integrity and the highest standards. Her actions show a serious lack of judgement and ethical conduct, and the people of St. Paul deserve better.
I have been following the story of St. Paul Mayor Kaoly Her’s repeated sexual harassment of city employees, and in light of this statement it is clearly time for her to resign her position as mayor. This is a breach of ethics and trust, and for Her to refer to it as “attempts at humor” is galling.
And one last thing on this whole Saint Paul situation. A genuine fuck you to everyone who thought it was okay to make a weiner joke today. I am always perceived as male (I’m not), and I was assaulted by my boyfriend when I was 18 and have faced instances of sustained sexual harassment.
@mayorher.bsky.social didn’t even bother issuing a denial. I feel sick that @stonewalldfl.bsky.social has ever endorsed you for any office, and I completely regret my vote for you last fall. Put the city that you claim to love first and resign.

When I reported a former employer 14 yrs ago for talking about 🌽 with me, he claimed he had been joking. When I reported a former employer for asking me about my sexual preferences, he claimed he’d thought we were just having fun. I remember the feeling that came up in my body. Shame. Fear.
As someone who has experienced sexual harassment multiple times at diff jobs…it never feels funny when you are the subject of jokes/comments. It’s hard to speak up about what happened to you precisely bc people might find it funny. Being harassed isn’t fun. It’s a violation. Let’s remember that.
Hmmmmmm my timeline went quiet. Where are the "jokes" now? It's almost as if none of it was funny to begin with. A lot of you need to do some self-reflection and cope with the fact that you failed today.
Dex Anderson@dexanderson.com · 7d agoMore details about the Mayor's harassment of people in her administration, including cops: x.com/lounewsman/s... She allegedly made comments about the breasts of a female Deputy Chief, and asked for an opinion on her own. This is textbook sexual harassment.
I will give this temporary, time-limited sliver of grace to folks: joking about something that makes you uncomfortable is a common reaction. It carries a mess of unintended consequences for people who’ve experienced SA. Take down your jokes and learn from this. We aren’t asking.
