Our aim is to understand the biological organisation of cells and organisms, and the molecular mechanisms underlying their function. https://www2.mrc-lmb.cam.ac.uk/research/cell-biology/

Growing up in the Northwest, Jodrell Bank helped inspire my interest in science. To hear of its funding being cut by @ukri.org is extremely sad, and an act of monumental vandalism that diminishes UK science in so many ways, including its ability to excite little kids... www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Astronomers warn it would tear the heart out of UK science, and leave a generation untrained.

Our Special Issue: Cell Biology of the Nucleus is complete Explore our Toc: journals.biologists.com/jcs/issue/13... Our cover image shows the posteriorly positioned nuclei (Nup50-mCherry - pink) of notochord cells in Ciona embryos. See article by Peng et al. journals.biologists.com/jcs/article/...

JCS Cover: Posterior nucleus positioning in Ciona notochord cells. Co-expression of hCD4–eGFP (green, cell boundary) and Nup50–mCherry (pink, nuclei) in notochord cells in Ciona embryos. The cells and the nuclei are 3D reconstructed and highlighted by Imaris software. See article by H. Peng et al. (jcs264699).

As Editor of @dev-journal.bsky.social I get asked "What are you doing about your impact factor?" In our new editorial we say: Ask not what Dev can do for the impact factor. Ask what you can do for Dev's IF The IF is about how we all cite, review & assess each other's work doi.org/10.1242/dev....

The elephant in the room: impact factor

Summary: This Editorial offers an honest look at impact factor trends in developmental biology, explains how Development serves its community, and makes the case that sustaining developmental biology ...

Patrick Vallance has twice written to MPs saying the budget for curiosity-driven research “will grow as the economy grows” But UKRI has flat cash for curiosity-led research through to 2030 When @isaacbarbosa1.bsky.social asked DSIT where the growth would come from, they had no answer A mystery
