Still so cool to me how Emio was an unapologetically classic FDC-style command-select adventure. It's one thing for freak indie devs like us to do it, but for Nintendo to release a brand new game like that with no compromises really surprised me. They should do it again!
Today is the 2nd anniversary of Emio: The Smiling Man and Nintendo actually posted an illustration to celebrate the occasion on the Nintendo Today app. Still can't believe that we actually got a new installment in the Famicom Detective Club series. Even more unbelievable that it turned out so good.

Oh, whether you're a new or returning player, I HUGELY recommend using the Tag Anywhere mod that's included with the launch. It's a simple quality-of-life feature that just lets you switch characters mid-level, and that VASTLY reduces the amount of grinding and backtracking for color-coded pickups.

we’ve been in early access for about a year now … during this time, we implemented: 🛠️ a UI overhaul + reworked enemies 👾 a new roguelike mode (Ouroboros) ❄️ a new region (Ice Floes) 🔫 two new weapons + a grenade 🎲 procedural levels and we’re not stopping there. 😎
I don't understand why this game isn't getting more coverage. It's using Havoc physics, so it's classic Red Faction Guerilla tier environment destruction. The falling chunks actually do damage/stun to enemies, so the central combat loop is all about blowing shit up. It's intoxicating.
Feel like a criminal for overlooking Void/Breaker on launch. It's a fucking blast. A roguelite fps where you combo destructible environments w/ whatever build you can whip up. Dropping buildings on enemies staggers & opens them up to more damage + HP/ammo drops. youtu.be/LLlpfG__NzQ?...

Well, it finally happened! After 9 years of Unity dominance, Godot was the most used game engine for GMTK Game Jam 2026 submissions. 🤖 Godot - 47% 🎮 Unity - 34% 🛠️GameMaker - 5% 🚀 Unreal Engine - 3% ✨ Other - 11%
New #Godot Cheatsheets on doc comments! The ready-to-go collection($10) now contains 22 cheatsheets, preconfigured for my free plugin that pins them in the engine!! qaqelol.itch.io/cheatsheet-v... You can also download them for free, one by one! qaqelol.itch.io/godot-cheats... #GameDev #IndieDev
I'm very happy to see it! Even if Godot isn't what you need for your project, it's still very good that it's gaining ground and momentum, a solid FOSS game engine that isn't beholds to the whims of shareholders is what this industry needs more than anything else.

I hate the argument “oh, you had so much time to play it.” Yeah, I spent that time playing other games I also wouldn’t want spoiled, I can’t play every game in a timely manner.
cool to see that the banana mania mod loader i spent countless hours doing research and reverse-engineering work on is included here! alongside sm64plus, of course finally, talentless hacks can now use my work to pretend they built something, and i get nothing! the democratization of code is here!!

Siiiigh vibe-coded recomps have come for my beloved Mischief Makers next. There's only one video up of it which doesn't show any of the 3D scenery stages, but the 3D rocks in the intro have broken textures. Emulation used to have that problem decades ago but it emulates perfect these days.
Vibe coded shit has become such a huge problem lately and has polluted so many areas related to FPGA, recompilations etc. Nearly every example of this produces broken or poorly performing results. It's happening exactly as I feared.

Had to try this trend with Hornet.
Its difficult to put my my anger over this into words. The modern Backrooms was born from the collective effort of thousands. That collaboration, all that passion/time was freely given because it made people happy. Now its being monetized. Its exactly like Ai and the internet.
