Pre-Transition I would be fucking depressed or self loathing all the time saying I had lost my creativity after I graduated high school. 2 years later I transition and I'm less miserable and much more creatively driven. Not going to say it was just transitioning but it helped a large amount.

Teaching theatre/dance I’ve watched the creativity and freedom of expression decline due to all the testing. Students are often looking to be right and perfect. So I design lessons so students feel safe to make mistakes and enjoy the creative process no matter how messy it gets.

“Nearly three in four Illinois parents experience sensory overload related to child-rearing. The most common causes of parents’ sensory overload were: children arguing, loud noise level from children, and messiness from toys and clutter.” I think this is for ALL parents not just autistic!

Over 1,000 Illinois parents share what drives “sensory overload” in child-rearing. Review top triggers, who feels it most, and other key takeaways.

God I am so fucking angry Queer folks, tell your stories. Mainstream, independent, comics, zines, games, shorts, novels, film, whatever your medium whatever your genre There are increasingly fewer platforms for them, so it is more important than ever to make sure they get out into the world

“I’m pretty sure that at this point the contract says that she gets to keep her soul, gets mine as well, and has dominion over all the kingdoms of the Earth,” said Lucifer Morningstar, 6028, “but at this point, I just want it to be over.” 🤣🤣🤣 you know we would!

Whatever, fine! Satan gives in after 15 weeks of negotiations for autistic woman’s soul

An autistic woman has officially become the first person to ever to out-negotiate Satan, it has been reported. Paige Thomas, 45, has claimed that she entered into negotiations with the Prince of Darkn...

One of the reasons I despise AI is how it robs imagination twice. First it steals from creatives and thinkers to make slop. Then it lets users bypass rather than learn a creative process. The political timing isn’t accidental. We need imagination to envision a better world that we’ll fight for.

An oldie but goodie thread 🧵 on neurodivergence (specifically #ADHD), cycling in and out of #hyperfocus and/or the actively creative phase, and #procrastination Takeaway: If you’re still feeling the #anxiety over a problem, you are not procrastinating. Procrastination would be avoiding that anxiety

#ADHD #hyperfocus I’m working with someone on adjusting their professional process to accommodate ADHD symptoms, and in fact get them to be beneficial. A lot of this involves reframing the phases around hyperfocus. Most professionals like their hyperfocus. It makes them highly effective. However…🧵

When we’re talking about creativity, what most us need help with isn’t figuring out the “rules” — it’s disregarding them. What does it mean, to have our own process? If everyone’s isn’t the same, how do we even know what “our process” is? What really IS this creativity thing all about?

Thank you so much for sharing your thought process here! If what we’re enabling (complimentary) is not just a question/answer process, but a “refine our thoughts and ask a better question” process— —I would be thrilled with that. Because ppl may have answers, but will they be the answer for *you*

I ask this question because we have all been trained to work a neurotypical “creative process.” Which is slightly ironic, insomuch as #creativity is really more about breaking through our predetermined expectations. So it’s natural that neurodivergents have unusual, or undefined, creative process.

While pondering your dilemma, a question occurred to me: Is this struggle a newer one for you, or has it been ongoing throughout most of your life? That might give us some clues about what your process is, and how to make it work better for you. (If I’ve misunderstood, please correct me)

This is your occasional reminder that generative "AI" in particular could have been developed on public domain materials and/or licensed and compensated works but the major players intentionally, methodically and systemically chose to steal labor from working creative folks instead
