writing designing programming games. she/her. living on stolen land in naarm, sovereignty was never ceded. corunning https://asymptotes.au https://crestofthebeast.itch.io/

ever since i've been around this space there's been a narrative of "(x viral success) proves The People want innovation!" and it almost always just leads to a series of increasingly craven imitators. you can't build a whole industry out of people trying to win the lottery. it's absurd.

i love how common the we need more games like [massive longshot million to one success] to save The Industry is as a take. sounds both sustainable and possible to plan for

At the Ghost in the Shell panel. Not even the screenwriter and producer have seen Shirow in the flesh. Shirow communicates only by photographing hand written notes and sending jpegs to his editor, who relays info to the staff.

I'm so very grateful for PeopleMakeGames giving me a platform to speak about the impact the dismissal from Rockstar has had on my family because it has been profound. We miss our dogs more than anything in the world and would do anything to have them both back. Unfortunately that cannot happen.

Listen to fired Rockstar worker Will Masilane detail how losing his job meant losing the life he had built in Edinburgh, with his girlfriend and his beloved dogs Abby and Lonnie The four of them had made the move to the Scottish capital from Australia two and half years prior.

(watching developments in daily human discourse, eager to find the moment i can grab hold of the word 'vibes' and crack it open like a geode to how it's just another way of talking about ideology without having to say the word 'ideology')

between sf6 and tokon it feels like the end state of the modern fighting game is an easy to input but ridiculous knowledge check resource-intensive management games with specifically designed power spikes. just make a moba guys.

my very silly blocker when trying to do creative work is that having my obsidian vault open with all the ten billion folders on the left hand side stresses me out but having no filetree at all stresses me out even more. i need a plugin that lets me pretend i only have the one folder at a time

oh i guess this piece also kinda casually announces abdication, a story collection, and natalie portman developing my story Constellations for film too, as well as confirming Borne is in development at AMC as a series lol... very info rich

i've been pretty tongue in cheek and coy about asymptotes stuff but i would like to say i'm absolutely floored by the response we got and by how positively the event was received. absolutely unreal to have a silly idea myself and a friend entertained become this. absolutely honoured, thank you all.

eenk, my interactive fiction firmware for Xteink e-reader, is making progress🙂 I've added custom font support (at device level and story level). The IDE is shaping up. I'm working on documentation, update process, polish. It's getting there! Does anyone have a cool ink story it could ship with?

A screenshot of the eenky IDE specially designed to create (and compile) stories for the eenk firmware. It's a fork of inkle's Inky editor with complete frontend rewrite.A picture showing the xteink eenk reader playing an ink story with a futuristic looking custom font. It's the same story as in the IDE screenshot.
