If all of those 40k moroccans wanted to and could and did enter the schengen area, this wouldn't matter one bit or be felt at all in a *half a billion* strong european community. This was just a coordinated media attack on spain for that one obvious reason that's irrelevant to migration.

"blessed is the match consumed in kindling flame. blessed is the flame that burns in the secret fastness of the heart. blessed is the heart with strength to stop its beating for honor’s sake. blessed is the match consumed in kindling flame." —hannah senesh, jewish partisan fighter

Fellow prisoners also managed to smuggle in gunpowder in small packets sewn into their clothing until the Sonderkommandos had enough powder to blow up one of the crematorium buildings. The incredible bravery of these Jewish prisoners, who knew they were doomed.

“If one of us dies, I’m moving to Paris” This is a joke that Freud used. We are aware of the reality of death, but this knowledge does not change the fact that we actually behave as if it were otherwise. That is how disavowal works. And that is what this thread will be about! 🧵⬇️

You are a skilful and trusted vizier. You will advise me wisely on how best to rule the kingdom. You will not scheme or plot. You will not inveigle my other courtiers into turning against me. You will not lie to me about scheming or plotting. If you scheme or plot against me, you have to tell me,

so here's the thing, this is true of octopuses but it's also true of most living things in the sea that humans murder en masse. fish are remarkably intelligent, sensitive creatures, it just isn't widely known by internet dullards who get all their information from memes

"The octopus on your plate can feel pain, delay gratification, and probably outthink a toddler. Just something to consider before you order."

Hard agree with rimidar on this. In fact, nothing has discredited wistful conservativism more to me than seeing people start to do it about times I lived through. Yeah the n64 was pretty dope when I was 10 years old, I guess; don't really think that should drive our immigration policy tho you loser.

I’m struggling to find an appropriate way to express my contempt for these kinds of ridiculous appeals to a highly subjective Arcadian vision of society as it was perceived to exist around the time that the person speaking was twelve years old and I really wish people would stop doing this

"Every single person in my store is supportive and accepting of who I am, including my boss, the other managers, and every colleague in every part of the store. At times my workplace is the only safe space in my life which is a bit sad."

www.reddit.com/r/transgende... Guess what? The story about the trans M&S employee and the bra fitting is a pack of lies and distortions. Want to know what really happened and how colleagues stood up for her? Read her own account here.

We’ve turned meaning-making into a problem-solving exercise: Religion is good for social cohesion; parenthood is good for demographics; friendship is good for mental health. Everything is instrumental. Everything is part of a control strategy.

@atheopagan.bsky.social was a dear friend of mine. She was a brilliant and insightful, if some times cantankerous, philisophical sparring partner who really helped me get through a chromic illness that disabled me for much of the last year. I am deeply saddened by her loss and will miss her a lot.

I'm sad to inform many dear friends that Gab (@atheopagan.bsky.social) has passed away. If you can spare it, please join me in helping their sister Amanda with funeral costs and assistance with emptying the apartment. Thank you. gofund.me/f2960acc
