Regarding the Discourse, lemme just say that if you can't draw, yes you can. Everyone can draw, and folks will almost certainly respond more positively to your stick figures than some generic "A.i." slop. Also, there are LOADS of resources for free images. Like this! 🧵 www.nga.gov/artworks/fre...

Just found out about this and I am gutted. Kyle was one of the best of us, such a genuine, sincere, passionate person with so much love of the craft. He’ll be missed by every person he touched, and many more who’ll find his work and learn about him from this point onward.

I’ve asked for this to be posted after my death. I accepted government assistance in dying. I’m proud to have been part of the animation industry during my short career, and meeting lots of fun, interesting people. 1/

while obviously this is not exclusively a woman's problem, i just also just want to point out that this generation specifically has more women working in animation than EVER before and yet the career opportunities and upward mobility available to us is nonexistent.

THEY PEPPER SPRAYED A BABY THEY PEPPER SPRAYED A BABY Please read this entire excellent piece by Caroline, which points out that a judge ordered the Feds (again) to stop doing **this exact kind of thing** and they are still continuing to do it all over Chicago

Arianna Sofia Veraza and her parents were driving to Sam's Club for milk, eggs and diapers yesterday when they heard helicopters and horns blaring yesterday. They had turned around to leave when a federal agent pepper-sprayed them through a car window. www.chicagotribune.com/2025/11/09/c...

Online censorship is one of the many levers of state power right-wingers have been pulling to try and snuff out queer and trans existence. But instead of fighting back, some Democrats are helping them at the controls. Read the full #OpEd from @fightforthefuture.org

Why Are Some Democrats Backing MAGA's Anti-LGBTQ+ Censorship?

From late-night host cancellations to removing LGBTQ+ history from government sites, politicians in both parties are contributing to the overwriting of the internet — a place where lots of queer and t...

No amount of marketing advice or hustle culture bullshit about monetizing followers will fix the structural problems that make freelance art careers so difficult. Maybe spend more time asking why people can’t/don’t want to pay us? Why society can’t support us?

Where is the patronage today for art, tailoring, craftsmanship, and public buildings? Why are new elites so allergic to any sense of beauty? I argue this is happening partly because people have associated crappy aesthetics with authenticity, intelligence, and virtue.

if you’re an artist who ever thought “what’s the point? The world is Hell and I should do something that matters instead” even in an ICE detention center people will treat art as sacred, seek it out, and find joy and comfort in it. You aren’t making art, you’re making hope.

On her first day in the facility, Becky asked for a scrap of paper and a pen, and began to draw the inmates on the table next to her. She was immediately inundated with portrait requests. A Mexican woman called Lopez, who had a photo of her children stored on one of the iPads, told Becky she would buy her some paper and colouring pencils from the commissary if Becky drew her kids. She soon became the dorm’s unofficial artist-in-residence, with women huddling around the dirty mirrors to make themselves look presentable before they sat for her. They would decorate their cells with Becky’s drawings, or send them to their families. Lopez declared herself Becky’s manager. “She kept saying, ‘Becky, you need to ask for stuff in exchange. Ask for popcorn.’ And I’d be like, ‘Lopez, I don’t need anything.’ I thought, I’m here briefly, you’re stuck here a long time. I’m not going to take your food away from you.”A three by three grid illustrating in blue pen cartoon portraits of women in an ICE detention center. “Mrs Kailey,” Bana, Lewelyn, Ikram, Asil, ‘Auntie,’ ‘F.Z,’ Kseniia, and “P.A.” Two have light hair, three have glasses, one wears a hijab, one poses, and one holds a drink.

Everyone should read this, especially for the bits in the article that give us some insight into what these detention prisons used by ICE are like. And no one, no one, should be traveling to the US if they can avoid it. No one. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

Many who work in animation live in L.A. No doubt a great # of people who follow me are also fans of it. Here is a shared list of industry workers/friends affected by the fires, people who worked on some of your favourite shows and films, people who make things you love. airtable.com/appugwkqKAVG...
