That it'll fail because they lack sufficient consolidation and centralized control does not make it trivial that the president of the United States is trying to steal elections and produce an illegitimate sham Congress. It is open rebellion against the Constitution and morally tantamount to treason.

"You hired half the Third Reich to staff your office ... If John Lewis were marching today, Mike Collins would be grabbing a billy club" -- here's a supercut of Jon Ossoff SMASHING Mike Collins during tonight's debate
Social media didn't make it so cranks could "finally find each other." Social media made it so YOU could find them. Cranks already had whole media ecosystems for that, and found ripe audiences virtually everywhere.

i'm not over Alito saying we shouldn't count ballots that are mailed on or before Election Day but arrive shortly afterwards bc they can “radically flip” the “apparent outcome” cannot stress enough that, until all ballots are counted, there's no outcome to flip! ballsandstrikes.org/scotus/alito...
A Brief History of Sam Alito’s Delusional Obsession With Voter Fraud
His conduct in several recent cases suggests that Alito is deep in the right-wing conspiracy theory weeds.

We really can't let ourselves get accustomed to this. He's telling the people of NC that he's going to let them die if they don't vote how he wants.
Trump: "We spent more than $2 billion in FEMA funding. You're waiting for some additional funding. I'm gonna get that to you. Now if Michael loses, I'm not sending it." Crowd: *groans*
I know we’re numb to this, but it is really bad that journalists and politicians both feel so comfortable lying. Society cannot sustain itself when its elites just lie like this.

Emmer says Republicans need to talk more about grocery prices that aren't expensive: "Eggs are at pre-pandemic prices. Ah, beef is at, ah, less than $2 a pound for ground beef ... I think we have a lot to run on."
People in media associate glibness with intelligence. That goes for social media too
The greatest thing about social media, IMHO, is discovering how much incredibly weird talent there is in the world.
really into this guy who krumps to various songs while singing said songs a cappella
This is pretty fucking wild. I had assumed in a worst case scenario he would target blue zip codes and toss ballots based on technicalities but this is even worse than I imagined.
The polls are super bad for Trump so he's definitely going to try to cheat www.nytimes.com/2026/09/01/u...
Well: no invite to give the State of Union. Have Trump send a note. Fund Congress fully: request a double appropriation from 230 million to 500 million. Create a Standing Impeachment Committee. Sue as a Body on any number of issues. Create a Solicitor General of Congress.
By 1958, the segregationist and white supremacist Citizens' Councils, formed in the months after the Brown decision, had developed an extensive media network that, was, as the historian Neil R. McMillen showed, was federally subsidized, recorded in Congressional recording studios./1
7. There's an analogue here to Iraq war 1 and Iraq war 2. When HW Bush kicked Iraq out of Kuwait and left it created the impression that the US was powerful and had bigger weapons we held off on using. When GWB lingered for decades it exposed our limitations.
"Trump is going to lose this trade war...He lost the Iran war months ago, but cannot bring himself to admit it. The trade war with Canada surely will follow the same pattern." On the pod, @pkrugman.bsky.social on where Trump's trade war will go is so good: newrepublic.com/article/2146...
Pictured are the two most flawed paragraphs in Callais. SCOTUS declares that *it*—and not Congress—gets to decide what legislation is "appropriate" under the Fourteenth and Fifteenth Amendments. Which is how we come to today's SCOTUS majority blessing racist gerrymanders bc the VRA is "colorblind."
#MorningVibe This video and message will never get old. Alabama, Georgia, Idaho, Kentucky, Oregon and Pensylvania have important elections today. Are you ready? No excuses! VOTE!
Miserable theme and variations: My variation is "10% of voters have 40% of the Senators."
one member of Los Angeles County's board of supervisors has more constituents than the U.S. senators of 12 states
As you read about the attempted $1.8B theft from the American taxpayers today to pay off people - including J6ers - who broke the law, also read Section 4 of the 14th Amendment.
By gutting the Voting Rights Act, the Supreme Court is killing the Second Reconstruction. The first Reconstruction shows how Congress should respond. Me and Daphna Renan in the NYT on the tools we have to save democracy from a hostile Court.

Actually, sorry, that's wrong: what they should do on day one is pass a concurrent resolution declaring the sense of Congress that he's not the lawful president (because disqualified from holding any public office by the Fourteenth Amendment)
Max Weber, Politics as a Vocation:
Q: If Democrats do win back the House, will you advance a bill to ban gerrymandering? Leader @hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social: Democrats want to establish one national standard that would prohibit mid-decade partisan gerrymandering. But we’re not going to unilaterally disarm.
Spent Saturday with President Obama and New York's Cutest — turns out my first name is Mayor and I need to be doing more squats. Here’s to building a City where families can thrive and every classroom is full of this much joy.
