Cycling Nova Scotia literally take the lane "Come down and see the Cycling Nova Scotia team on the Macdonald Bridge from 2pm - 4pm today for the 2026 Bridgewalk. Enjoy a stroll across the bridge while it’s closed to traffic"
All the hysteria and rhetoric that consumed a community around these bike lanes ended and now no one talks about them and people use them (including those with mobility devices) all the time for work, school, play and everything in between. Change is hard for some people but we all adapt.
The federal government has approved the Crawford nickel-cobalt mine north of Timmins, Ont., having concluded that the proposed mine’s “adverse effects” are “justified in the public interest.” Here’s our earlier story on the mine — and what it might mean for Timmins.

In lieu of a Critical Mass ride, please join a memorial ride to remember Dr. Nouman Ali. Community members have planned a ride for August 9, at 1:00, in his honour. Our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew him.
I think this is a nice way for #BikeHFx to come together with people from the communities that Dr. Nouman Ali has been involved with to honour his memory.

Today marks the Day of Commemoration of the Great Upheaval. It began in 1755 when Acadians were forcibly removed by the British from their homes in present-day Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and P.E.I. Between 1755 and 1763, about 10,000 Acadians were deported on crowded ships. Thousands died.

Great coverage on the current Broadway closure featuring @margiesanderson.bsky.social & @yvrcyclist.bsky.social. TLDR: the Cambie closure is going better than Main St. It's not perfect but we appreciate the City consulting with us & HUB and taking proactive steps. vancouversun.com/news/advocat...

"One of our strongest findings is that many incidents occurred while people were using infrastructure exactly as intended - crossing at marked crosswalks, walking on sidewalks or cycling in infrastructure that forms part of our AAA bicycle network"

Beijing’s bicycle comeback might be one of the world's most significant urban cycling revivals. After decades of decline, its mode share has climbed back to almost 30%, supported by over 3,200 kilometres of infrastructure, extensive bike-sharing systems, and an ambitious program of street redesign.🧵

Having witnessed a friend getting doored several years ago I avoid the door zone, and for good reason. Here's a 30 second clip featuring 5 incidents of doors being flung open on me in recent months, the first clip from this morning. Just behind me was a cargo bike with a parent & child 2/2

There’s a quiet culture change happening in Halifax. I think it’s most obvious at #KidicalMassHfx, where you can see “all the cool bikes,” but it’s also evident on an average Sunday afternoon at the pool. The culture of family cycling and cargo bikes is growing steadily and it’s wonderful to see!
“Everyone thought it would create gridlock.” It didn’t. “It’s difficult to imagine that just over 20 years ago, this was an elevated highway carrying 168k cars daily through South Korea’s capital.” Now it’s a world famous people-place. They’ve since removed 16 more elevated highways in the city.
