Like Aura but with a rawrr because I never grew out of my emo phase 🖤 Living on stolen land, sovereignty was never ceded. I'm interested in music, kitchen witchcraft, books (especially fantasy but fairly omnivorous), and human rights. YNWA

In New Zealand, the High Court ruled that a puberty blocker ban violates prohibitions on discrimination on the basis of a medical condition. It stated the ban was "unjustified and disproportionate discrimination." Trans youth can get care again. Subscribe to support our journalism.

it will never stop being funny to me that charlie kirks last words were counting or not counting gang violence like every few months it hits me and its like a fresh new oh my god i cant believe that actually happened

what drives me crazy about all this LLM shit is that the only thing "new" about it is scalability and framing. They're using what is essentially an LLM to identify patterns in 1975's Three Days of the Condor. Automatic processing of large data sets is decades old technology.

I'm absolutely terrified for the future. Living on the edge of disaster like this is so hard. I struggle to do basic tasks because I'm just so scared and upset all the time by what's happening to trans people around the world and looking increasingly likely to happen here.

I'll add: the legal changes in Australia have not all been for the better. Queensland and NT have both gone backwards in several key respects Also: the reason I am so fearful even in Australia is simply that I have watched in horror at what has happened in the US and the UK. Australia is not immune

The scale of the assault on transgender people is sometimes worth highlighting. Back when I transitioned, the US and the UK were both relatively safe. Genuinely not that different to Australia in terms of trans safety. The dehumanisation of trans people in the last decade has been catastrophic.

Cis people do not understand how much trans people's rights have regressed in just 5 years. 5 years ago, there were none of these restrictions. 19 states banned legal recognition 21 states have bathroom bans 8 states ban gender marker changes on DLs 25 ban gender affirming care for trans youth

Having a presenter on the ABC, who maintained a list of left-leaning people and called it “Lobotomised Shitheads”, talking about what has happened to Helen Haines, and wringing her hands about how people can lower the political temperature, is more than I can stomach. #AusPol

This is so tragic and horrible and evil. No words could be enough. Please, read this story of the institutional murder of a bright young trans woman and if able, donate to the legal fight to tackle the systemic transphobia that killed her.

NHS killed 27 year old trans women due to not having a single room bed for her despite her pleading to be placed on a male ward for treatment. Read share, write to your MP and donate. www.translegalclinic.com/justice-for-...

"For years, trans people have used wards in line with their gender identity, under the NHS’s own guidance – without any harm. The NHS was built on the promise that everyone counts. With this guidance, it has decided that trans people certainly don’t – and some of us will pay for it with our lives."

The new NHS guidance for trans people could put lives at risk

The NHS has decided to make it even worse for trans people – by forcing them to use wards based on their ‘biological sex’.

@commissionerhr.coe.int Next year you are letting the UK host the European IDAHOT+ Forum. What would your advice be to visiting trans attendees, should they require a hospital stay? Seeing as the event was awarded to a known segregationist state, you must have a plan to mitigate this risk? Right?

Trans women no longer to be placed on female-only wards under new NHS England guidance

Rules mean single-sex wards, toilets and changing rooms will now be used by people based on their biological sex

“It is not just history that haunts. It is that in these institution, elite, white, British institutions, we become the ghosts, Black and brown people, reminders of what they refuse to recognise let alone to give up.” Thinking with Jason Arday, Sara Ahmed exposes the racism of/in higher education.

In an earlier post, Stories of Institutional Violence, I shared that I hoped to write some posts in honour of Professor Jason Arday’s life and legacy.
