We're off to Roy Bridge for our next trip 9-12 October, a regular return. The weather has often been mixed on our trips, but we've had a good time anyway. Lots of hills to enjoy in the area, plus trains, cafes, gondolas to visit if too wet. We have monthly weekend trips and welcome non/new members.

A lovely day out in North Berwick, walking up Berwick Law and around Balgone Lake, partly on the John Muir Way. Overcast skies turned to heavy rain after lunch but we had waterproofs, great chat and a good cafe to dry out in. We have regular walks in the Lothians & Fife, non-members welcome!

Always interesting to an old Rambler to see access management in other countries. These are a few signs from the Pyrenees national park. Seems a bit restrictive to Scottish eyes - no cycling, dogs, camping - but the upside is the GR10 & other routes are very well managed. And very well used (€€!)

Come with us to the Pyrenees, they said. Warm, sunny days and great views from the mountains on the GR10 route. Ha! More like Scotland today. (Not really complaining, after 7 days of ☀️☀️☀️).

Been enjoying the purple heather in the Pentlands on a couple of walks this week. Is it always this good? Love having these hills on the doorstop, great for linear walks thanks to Lothian Buses. 🥾

Another great trip to the Cairngorms, staying at the lovely Muir Cottage at Inverey. Mixed weather but we enjoyed getting into the hills for walks and cycles - and as always had fab shared veggie dinners each evening. We have monthly weekend trips away, non-members are welcome to give it a try!

A @naturescot.bsky.social spokesperson has told @thecourier.co.uk: “The estate doesn’t always appear to be compliant with Scotland’s access rights and the associated landowner duties, and we strongly urge the estate to reconsider its approach, working closely with its local access authority." 🤞

Eye-opening explainer on the system and people involved in bicycle food delivery. Not a service I’ve ever used, but it has to be better than using motor vehicles. However, (surprise!) exploitative practices by tech companies are undermining any positives.

Please read through the thread, to understand the photograph. And spend a moment of two today to remember Nagasaki. To think of peace. That one day our world may know what it means to have peace. 🙏🏻❤️
