It’s my turn now! The newsletter didn’t take off so I’ve been laid off. If you’re looking for someone with 15 years of experience as a writer and editor, please get in touch. I’ve also written dozens of mock reviews and my clients say they’re good.

If you enjoyed The Incident at Galley House and want to know more about the work that went into it, Robin from Evil Trout has written up a really interesting in-depth behind-the-dev post that I really recommend! (Thanks for the kind shout-out as well Robin)

It's been two weeks since The Incident at Galley House launched, and I've written up a lengthy technical blog post about its development: eviltrout.com/blog/2026-07...

Played through Type Help which robs The Incident At Galley House of drama but, as someone a bit skeptical of a text adventure being made into an actual game, the execution is spot on. A proper little radio play whodunit. Lovely production values and attention to detail.

We released The Incident at Galley House a week ago, and it's been a wild ride: * Overwhelmingly Positive on Steam in 48 hours * We recouped our entire development budget * At peak, 2500 people were playing at the same time!! Thanks to all the detectives out there for making it a big success.

Absolutely hooked on The Incident at Galley House. Genuine GOTY stuff. Has the potential to be a really annoying "don't look anything up about it just play it!"-style recommendation to people.

I just rolled credits (and 100%-ed) The Incident at Galley House. I wasn't even halfway through last night, and there were some real 🤯 moments after that. What an incredibly well constructed game. Great voice performances too. I wouldn't be surprised if this ends up being my GOTY.

The Incident at Galley House is absolutely my jam. It's a murder mystery narrative deduction game. If you liked Her Story or Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective or Return of the Obra Dinn or anything in that vein, you're gonna love this. store.steampowered.com/app/3641000/...

My heart sinks a little when I see indie dev promoted as an answer to layoffs. This space is always a bloodbath. But the shift is brutal. AAA devs switching to indie dev can be like folks from NYC trying to live in Paleolithic Earth. Even AAA devs moving to Triple-I can be a slow motion tragedy.

So for this Juneteenth, I went back and updated my feature on the need to incorporate more Blackness into your gaming perspective, more relevant now than when I wrote it years ago. Check it out on @pcmag.com www.pcmag.com/opinions/cel...

Celebrate Juneteenth by Supporting These Brilliant Black Game Developers

From developers to esports stars to visionaries, Black excellence exists at every gaming level, so you have no excuse not to show support.

Every year for Pride, I repost Hue. I made him to send love and comfort to those who feel Pride isn’t for them because they aren’t out. You matter, you are valid, and it’s ok if you aren’t ready yet. Coming out is not a requirement for being part of this community. Happy Pride 🌈

The first warning arrived on a Tuesday morning, six weeks after consultants advised moving from dependency on six hundred small excel scripts - and nobody at Zenith Ledger Advisory paid much attention. It appeared in the system dashboard between routine audit notifications and a maintenance reminder

I made this Pride flag using only NASA images and our team thought it would be cool to share on social (I work on the NASA heliophysics communications team), but it's getting all sorts of hate on the bird app and Fbook. Thought y'all might be more appreciative of it here. ☺️🏳️‍🌈💖

A pride flag with every color band represented by a NASA image. White is Earth clouds, pink is aurora, blue is the Sun in a specific wavelength, brown is Jupiter clouds, black is the Hubble deep field, red is the top of sprites, orange is a Mars crater, yellow is the surface of Io, green is a lake with algae, blue is Neptune, and purple is the Crab Nebula in a specific wavelength.
