Research fellow at Oxford 🦠🧫 interested in UTIs, organoids, host-pathogen interactions, microfluidics, biofilms and AMR.

New in PLOS Pathogens 🎉 How does OM-89 (Uro-Vaxom) protect against recurrent UTIs? 🦠 Our paper: it activates lysosomes in bladder epithelial cells, pushing intracellular E. coli into acidic, protease-active compartments and improving antibiotic killing. 🧵 10.1371/journal.ppat.1014448 #UTISky #UPEC

Really exciting project and a dream team! 🙌🏼 Please consider applying if you’re a UTI enthusiast! 🦠🧫

Ecstatic to have contributed to this wonderful work of my fantastic colleague @microberamon.bsky.social ! Bottom line is that environment, including fluidics, matter for antibiotic treatment which might contribute to treatment failure. Precious collaboration with bioengineers!

Thrilled our latest paper out @natureportfolio.nature.com Nature Comms, lead author @microberamon.bsky.social, who developed P-FLO, a urine-flowing human micro-bladder model in collab with Oxford & Leicester to understand #UTI biology & treatment failure 1/4 #UTISky www.nature.com/articles/s41...

📢 We’re hiring a Research Assistant at the University of Oxford funded by The Urology Foundation (TUF). We aim to study how urination-like shear stress shapes uropathogenic E. coli behaviour, particularly bacterial filamentation, using an advanced human bladder model under flow

I might be biased, but what an excellent presentation from my partner in crime in the lab! 👏 He shared part of his PhD work on tackling P. aeruginosa biofilms using a combination of ultrasound, antibiotics, and antibiofilm agents. 🦠

Excited 🎉 to receive The Urology Foundation Innovation & Research Award 2026. We want to answer a simple question: does flow matters in UTIs? We will investigate how bacteria sense and respond to urinary flow, and how shear stress shapes host-pathogen interactions in a microtissue bladder model🔬🧫

Had a fantastic time at #ESCMICGlobal2026 presenting our work on polymicrobial communities in our bladder microtissue model. Really inspiring to be part of such a dynamic and engaging meeting. We’re hoping to submit a preprint soon. Stay tuned for more 🦠-🦠-🧫

My final talk at #ESCMIDGlobal2026 was, fittingly, @microberamon.bsky.social sharing his beautiful work with polymicrobial infections in our 3D urothelial model - brilliant presentation! #UTISky

Really grateful to be part of this amazing community. The conference has been absolutely fantastic, with incredible science, thoughtful discussions, and a great reminder of why we do what we do. Cherry on top: the poster award! 🎉 @globaluti.bsky.social 🙌

Excited to be in Nashville exploring my favorite topic: host–pathogen interactions 🦠 Our team integrates urinary microenvironment + mechanical cues (flow) in a bladder microtissue model to better evaluate antibiotic and phage therapies against UPEC Come check out poster 16! 👀 #UTICONF26 #UTISky

Recurrent and chronic UTIs have a huge impact on patient's quality of life and is an area of research which is often overlooked and understudied. There are massive gaps in our understanding which we can fill to... (1/3) See all images in this post and that follow for the top 10! #MicroSky #UTISky
