Wow. Decorative quilt 'Variations on Dawn' by Ann Brauer. Etsy link for shop: www.etsy.com/shop/AnnBrau... - don't quite know where this will go since it fits everywhere and is so reminiscent of the lake and mountains at sunrise/set. But damn it's so beautiful! (And came with wall mount system!)

Not sure the status of friendly bathroom candle spider but I rescued a wee lil baby spider out of the tub (wtf spiders and ceramics??) and flicked it to the floor. TNG So, science peeps - do geckos have a similar problem? I think their trick is incredible surface area and spiders' is dropping lines?

Global model ensembles are in strong agreement that a prolonged &anomalous nearly West-wide autumn heatwave will develop this week & persist for 10+ days. While some daytime records may be set, this event will be more notable for its persistence & breadth. [Thread]

Map showing predicted temperature anomalies in early October from the ECMWF ensemble across the western U.S. Nearly the entire region is painted red and pink, indicating widespread very warm anomalies.

“The ‘perfect storm’ in the Bay could hypothetically occur if the peak high tide, peak storm surge, and peak rainfall all occurred simultaneously,” a BCDC report reads, but that “has not occurred over the historical record to date.“

@wingsndnsilver.bsky.social So, if I were to hypothetically buy myself an early holiday present... ummm 'Rainflower Sky' cuff and 'sky sheds a single tear' both look amazing and as if they fit together perfectly. Am I spending too much? Yes. Can I afford it? Also yes. Would I regret it? Nooo.

First Nations children are still waiting for safe schools, clean water, adequate housing and equitable services. Meanwhile, Canada somehow finds urgency when the “national interest” is pipelines, mines and major projects. Reconciliation has to mean more than wearing orange once a year. 🧡

No I mean I feel like this is important. I was talking about this with a friend yesterday because the crusty dusty Bluesky men were mad I was calling out obvious mansplaining, talking over and weaponized incompetence. They were demanding civility, supposedly. 1/

I don't try to thread often, and when I do I usually compose in Notes first and then check a bit later. (Spellcheck and autocorrect are now broken and possibly deliberately antagonistic.) But last night I was pissed and writing after the time my eyesight crashes and...I regret nothing.

Why am I trying to do unplanned legal threads on bsky in the middle of the night? Pissed off. Not articulating feelings well but still wanting to vent them. Also fuck you so much whatever Apple "a.i." shit is making everything more difficult to use. Sorry, and g'night all. You rock ❤️

Fraternities get fairly tale deals. Massive subsidies in things like (when I was at Cal) exemption from eviction regulations and no need to pay property taxes. The exemption meant every single legal resource we visited, took one look, saw "frat" and noted out. Not a winnable battle.

(Actually sued the frat along with floor mates -totally unrelated reason on paper, but also not. Won in the sense that they had to settle. And pay 10y back property taxes to the city of Berkeley. It's not a conviction, or vindication for anyone, but... 🖕🖕🖕🖕🖕🖕🖕

I moved into a defunct frat house (closed chapter) second yeah of college. While cleaning, we found a stack of developed photo of girls passed out drunk on the pool table during parties. Whatever came next they didn't photo. Turned them over to the campus police but nothing else we could do.
