Bad news bears, as someone who went through ABA, this is in fact what it is! They physically abused me for having seizures, I wasn’t let out of the room or restraints until I could have more sightly kinds of seizures & now I have much worse kinds. My life is actually a nightmare because of ABA

Taking a child’s preferred item away to make them earn it back with acts of compliance intended solely to make them appear more normal to outsiders is not Applied Behavior Analysis. It is emotional abuse.

Detention Watch Network is reporting the death of 29-year-old Priciliano Trejo, who had leukemia when he was detained by ICE in NC. ICE initially failed to provide Priciliano with access to medical care. They only released him from custody when he was on his death bed at hospital.

From medical neglect in ICE detention centers to the violence of kidnapping immigrant community members, the U.S. government is actively disabling and killing members of our community. Immigrant Justice is Racial Justice is Disability Justice. We must fight to abolish ICE and fund care over cages.

Text reads, “Disabled immigrants are greatly impacted by the violence of ICE, both by being brutally targeted and kidnapped by ICE in the streets as well as being denied necessary medical care including medication and access to assistive devices. They are also frequently punished for being disabled within detention centers, such as being forced into solitary confinement. The trauma of being targeted by ICE and the state can deeply impact mental and physical health, including giving people PTSD. Because of this trauma and medical neglect, people with disabilities frequently experience a decrease in their mental health baseline after being detained. Glad to see so much uptake of this story which was first reported by Shamim, but please be aware this is entirely typical and unsurprising behaviour by the DOJ. It’s particularly cruel when the students are from Gaza but it’s also part of a pattern of unjustified visa refusals

Dozens of people from Gaza seeking visas to study in Ireland are denied entry. It was Haneen Eshraim's only “realistic opportunity at this stage to leave Gaza safely and continue my education”, she said. More here www.dublininquirer.com/dozens-of-pe...

These are going to be deployed on Black disabled students first. Think I'm exaggerating? GAO found % students suspended 3% of White students without disabilities 8% White students with disabilities 12.5% Black students without disabilities 23% Black students with disabilities

Publishing industry folks should note the Skyhorse/Tony Lyons connection here. Lyons has been a menace for years (including scooping up the Woody Allen book in 2020). But choosing to ally himself with a child murderer illustrates just how deeply committed he is to platforming the eugenics movement.

CHD has energetically defended Shaw both before and after she was charged. Holland sat for a July 8 interview about Shaw with MAHA Action, a 501(c)4 advocacy group staffed by some RFK Jr.’s closest political allies. There, Holland was interviewed by Tony Lyons, the founder of Kennedy’s publisher, Skyhorse Publishing. And she pressed Shaw’s case in a New York Times article about the lawsuit, where she declared, “We’re probably the only organization that would take a case like that very seriously and put out information about it right away.”

NEW: I dug into the court documents in the case of Andrea Shaw, the Idaho mother charged with killing her toddlers. Shaw insists they died following a set of vaccinations. I looked at how the anti-vaccine movement insinuated itself into this case and her life. www.motherjones.com/politics/202...

I don’t feel great about asking for hotel money because I have security deposit money and also half a couch until then and there are people who don’t have that in this heat but it has been 3 days and maybe 4 hours of sleep and I am not sure I can physically handle another week of this.
