Right now in many parts of this country, I'd feel unsafe entering a men's room, even though I have M on my ID and I'm by all appearances a man, that's how fucked this broader situation is. If you're cis and you've never had to contemplate such things, indeed! We're experiencing different things.

the erosion of consent & user preference on social media started long before AI got added unsolicited to everything. nothing has ever asked if I want to see short form video (I do not).
They allowed a feedback loop of suicide-related content to build up, possibly leading to the suicide of one kid, to provide a control group so they could figure out whether or not safety measures dampened engagement. 10% of users were in the control.

In the mid-20th century, auto and oil interests bought up electric streetcar systems across the US and systematically replaced them with bus routes and paved roads, funneling commuters toward private cars.
I worked for New York’s largest medical center at the start of the pandemic. There were morgue trucks on the streets. They set up emergency medical tents in Central Park. Healthcare worker colleagues died. It is horrific that RFK Jr is on national TV lying that ICUs were empty.
