Staring at the sea yesterday. I'll never not be fuming about rancid rightwing shitspackled arsebarnacles getting bussed down t'other weekend just to intimidate everyone, dunk on lifeboat volunteers, & dick around putting people at risk & on edge. This shit keeps me awake, it really fucken does.

Possible signs/symptoms that you may run arts workshops: - you own at least 1 crate like this - your collage materials have their own crate - you collect used pens for recycling - you couldn't find the potato peeler in ur own house, but can come up with 20 set squares/scissors/etc in 5 secs flat

A big plastic wheelie crate with the contents emptied out. It includes: boxes of art supplies labeled as for under 4 year olds, ages 4+, Sharpies and sketching pencils. A giant box of assorted scissors a sack of felt tip pens and pencils in bundles, a stack of boxes of pastels, a jar full of dice, a zipper bag full of precision scissors, glue sticks, and paintbrushes, a carton of acrylic gouache paints, a box of pencil sharpeners and erasers, and a jar marked for plastic pens for recycling. There's a stack of paper pads and boxes of fancy-ass pencils left in the crate. Whew. It's a fucken lot, I tells you.

In 2011, one chick held the record for most plastic ever found in the species: 276 pieces, 64g. We thought that was as bad as it could get. We were wrong. The record fell in 2023. Fell again in 2024. Then in 2025: 894 pieces in a single chick. (Photo: worst chicks in 2010, 2015, 2021, 2025)

Haven't had much time to draw this week or last, but I've still been doing the breakfast doodle warm-ups to make sure my hands don't forget how a pencil works! It's all about practice. Quite like this pocket landscape. Might do another without the big trees, not so fond of them. Still a fun doodle!

The landscape is of a river winding through fjords, with silhouettes of trees, and a few big trees in the foreground. The river waterfalls off the edge of the page. The shading is not particularly smooth in places, but that's because I'm the kind of asshat that draws in pencil on my watercolour paper sometimes.A close up on the small landscape described in the previous pic. Most of the landscape is in dark sepia with the river in grey-green and greenish blues. The foreground tree shapes are in moss green and to be honest I don't like them, but this was still a fun doodle & experiment so it's all good. This is how we learn, & the worst doodle is still better than so-called-AI slop.

Shading doodle warm-up before I hit today's serious drawing. (Serious drawing is the same as any other drawing, but with more internal screaming lol)

A doodle in various different pencils, that is more about practicing shading than anything in particular. It's of a pattern of holes and canyons under the surface of the paper. The different pencils are P205 HB, P203 HB, Pitt graphite matte 2B, Polychromos 175 dark sepia.
