Not only no culture, but no *commons*. The dependency on the capitalist overlords will be complete, because you can’t ask for help or context from others when there is no common frame of reference. this is the ultimate end point of capitalism, ai will completely atomize everyone and there will be zero shared experiences. there will be no culture, only pure consumption. this must be resisted

there's more serendipity & diversity in a big city vs a small town — but that doesn't mean individual neighborhoods are 100x the size I'm excited for permissioned data b/c it'll better enable communities to draw their own boundaries & make cozier spaces while still getting the benefits of scale!

stagnation & mega-scale each have failure modes; we *don't* want growth at all costs we want communities that'll be good citizens & shape platform dynamics that support a big diverse userbase but it's true there's context collapse & ppl gravitate to cozy spaces for good reason; we need many scales

You can’t convince people to move to a new network for ideological reasons. A few will; most won’t. The only driver is giving them something new that they want and can’t get anywhere else.

An AI downside I don't see discussed much is how it devalues *non-AI* work. Things that would take weeks such as writing a report, coding an app, or drawing a detailed illustration now seem less impressive because of the possibility they might all be AI-generated–even when they aren't.

wild that this is exactly what using a computer is like now
