“Idleness so called, which does not consist in doing nothing, but in doing a great deal not recognised in the dogmatic formularies of the ruling class, has as good a right to state its position as industry itself.” Robert Louis Stevenson, “An apology for idlers” (1877) www.wired.com/beyond-the-b...

Not a single damn person feels this way, Sam. Spend a day on a short order cook line. Try a 14 hour nursing night shift. Spend a summer in a plant or warehouse without A/C. We’re tired man, all we do is work.

"Ich askid ChatGPT," Well Ich askid the stones, and the forest, and the starres, and the mountaynes, and the moone daunsinge above, and what thei seyde was learninge, and dreames, and growinge thinges, and makinge art, and a flawed honest worlde wher we talke to each othir and care about each othir.

"Did I get one coat of paint? Maybe a wood stain? No. Everyone wants to keep me distressed. You love my distress. You put my distress all over your Pinterest boards. You would snort my distress if you could. Bottle it, sell that shit on Etsy."

I’m a Barn, and I Don’t Want to Host Your Wedding

“Let me just come right out and say it: Please don’t get married in me. I’m not an event space. I’m not shabby chic. I’m not wabi sabi. I’m not rustic glam.”...

The Amateur Emigrant and its sequels are funny, wry, witty, and a beautiful tribute to hope, America, dreaming, and adjusting expectations.

#OTD, 7 Aug, 1879, Robert Louis Stevenson set sail in the SS 𝘋𝘦𝘷𝘰𝘯𝘪𝘢 from Greenock to New York in pursuit of love. Women really just aren’t angry enough. We played by the rules then once we get good at the game, they change the rules & turn all of our previous assets into liabilities. The goal posts are constantly being moved. The game is rigged against us by the bros that be. I’m tired of playing their game.

It’s been a long time since I laughed out loud reading a poem. But this one did the trick!

We’re never going to live on Mars. We’re never going to live on the Moon. There is no Planet B. We need to take care of our magical mystical miraculous planet like it’s the only home we will ever have. Because it is.

One of my favorite things about reading is its ability to transport me far beyond my immediate surroundings. It introduces me to new information, concepts, and kinds of people. Be it a novel, non fiction, short stories, articles, etc.

Good morning! ☀️ I am currently watching my dogs sleep, and I'm jealous. No emails. No meetings. No existential dread. Absolute confidence that breakfast will appear, someone will take them for a walk, and a nap is an appropriate follow-up to their first nap. Wishing you a day like theirs.
