I unloaded and shelved a pallet of boxes this morning then in the afternoon carried buckets of hot water to aggressively mop and scrub for three hours now I'm sitting here wondering why it feels like my arms are going to fall off.

The whiplash I had touring open houses today. I'm sure "virtually enhanced" means the floors are shitstained and the walls are cracked. Of course the photographer won't take photos of a busted door, this is still an exhausting layer of deceit.

The text says: Perfect opportunity for investors, multigenerational living, or buyers looking to add value. "Virtually enhanced photos are included to demonstrate the home’s potential condition after cosmetic improvements and cleanup."

I just saw a meme that said “get in losers, we’re reclaiming the emdash”. People. PEOPLE. Where are your STANDARDS? It CLEARLY should be “get in, losers — we’re reclaiming the em dash.”

ultimately the fallout of all this is that cartoonists who aren't necessarily trained in academic citation, history and historiography, and don't have a background in that, will be terrified to draw anything nonfiction. and that's not on the academics who feel slighted. that's on comic publishers

And that's where readers can get tripped up. They don't realize that they have read a story, a narrative, from a very specific POV, not just a collation of facts. Historians are not neutral actors. And in this particular case, narrative becomes even more important, bc the facts are enigmatic.

Don’t ban kids using YouTube. Make YouTube behave like a broadcaster. Pay creators. Reinvest in the creative industries. Pay fair tax back into creators’ economies. Follow guidelines on fair usage and copyright. Play fair. It’s bigger than TV now. Make it behave like TV.

1/ This company’s models were trained on web scraped datasets (like LAION) and their founders are ex-Stability AI employees who engage in the same thieving practices that led artists like myself to sue Stability. GenAi companies NEED big names to sanitize their exploitation and crippling PR.
