I worked at Disney a while ago. Do you know why theme parks are so safe? Because OOSHA reps can walk the track on any ride at any time and any safety violation they see is a $10,000 fine. Each. Theme parks are not safe because the company cares. They're safe because it's cheaper to comply.

If I were a billionaire I would fund all the websites I used to read in 2009 so I didn’t have to spend every day scrolling through social media. I would give Caitlyn Weaver an unlimited Diet Coke budget so she could try every chain restaurant in Times Square. TWoP would thrive.

At this morning's Newcastle Christians at Pride Service we were invited to reflect on what Pride means to us. My answer has changed over the years, as I have changed and the world has changed. This is part of it now:

A lesbian priest goes to Pride “Are you a real priest?” You dance towards me shimmering with sequins and sass, and courage that comes hard won. “Will you bless me?” And something dancing in your eyes that looks like longing, long denied. I raise my hand. Around us hands raised with the beat of defiant joy. I raise my hand: “The blessing of God…” more than almighty, more than holy, wild and free and dancing out of reach, weaving us into the crowd. This blessing bounces off a glitter ball, refracted with the light, broken shards of glory clinging to our clothes, snagging on fishnets, sliding over slicked-back hair, landing lightly on tattooed biceps, scars, jackets worn like armour. It follows me home, this blessing, trailing after me as if reluctant to leave the party, follows me to the altar with the dawn, dancing through stained glass: cracked beauty on immaculate linen. I raise in my hands sparkling silver and bread: “this is my body.” In my hands, my body, this body, the blessed and broken meet: the pulse of last night’s music echoing into shining silence. Yet another deleterious impact of AI-ing everything all at once - websites hosting useful information are basically being DDoS'd by bots. In this case it also seems like someone was trying to hack the site to get box office data ahead of the crowd (because that can now easily be monetized).
