You can/should read Emily Wilson's latest take on the Odyssey, but I'm logging on to convey my hairdresser's reaction. She was AGHAST that Nolan, with his million $ budget, gave Matt Damon ONLY 6 hair extensions. As a result, his hair did not blow around properly, & that ruined the film for her.

The ultimate outcome of folks paying higher mortgages is not slower price increases, it's more of us being made *actually* poor, because employers fire people or cut casual shifts to maintain profit. Unemployment is by design & the RBA chief doesn't care a bit about how many lives she destroys.

Why does the Reserve Bank want to make Australians feel poorer? 🤔 Co-CEO Richard Denniss answers this question and more in the latest episode of 'What's the Point?' 🏦🏦🏦 #auspol @richarddenniss.bsky.social

Humorous to me how, when a Dem candidate is a centrist, the narrative is about how leftists have to grow up and support them. When the candidate is a leftist, the question is whether they can rally adequate support. So some people are responsible for running a winning campaign, you say? Interesting.

This sucks ass. When I start my car I want to be able to put my foot on the pedal and drive off. I dont want to watch an ad. A distracting ad. Right in the middle of my console. Again. This sucks ass.

I remembering intubating 3 members of the same family from s nearby Tes, and they all died. One of our radiology nurses was crashed on to ECMO and survived. I remember crying when I got my first dose and vaccine and making my will. RFK can kick f@^kin' rocks.

I spun up the distribution of PPE in my community, including coordinating with makers creating 3D printed face shields for us. I will never forget the humanity these people showed - which some other people, including some physicians not on the front lines, never seemed capable of demonstrating.

I had to code and pronounce a time of death on a respiratory therapist colleague. There's a memorial plaque for her outside the emergency department to this day. I wrote and re-wrote my will. I will never forgive these ghouls trying to rewrite history and deny our experience.

RFK Jr said these words today on national television "There were ICUs that were empty all over the country including in New York at the height (of the pandemic)" hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha You are a fucking idiot hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha <sobs silently>

"Wow you're so soft on him" Yeah... because we're in the same boat? If you live in a state that actually runs its educational system, I guess it's easy to not see what the Green shop is doing or why it matters. If they go away, we actually lose education here.

Every time a comic or late show host takes a low-hanging crack at them I think about your post & how much money & effort went into a supply tracking system like that. They're a business who got burned in a contract with a supplier & let the public know where gov't failed. No good deed.

Bluesky is a "liberal bubble" because fascist chuds can't get traction without algorithmic assistance and because people here trained themselves to block "debate me" trybois the instant they roll up

Bluesky's new CEO Toni Schneider on the platform's reputation for being a liberal bubble: "Yes, we definitely want that to change. It is already changing. It certainly wasn’t designed to attract one specific group of people."

The political right in Australia used the same talking points after the Black Summer Bushfires, with two additions: the fires were the work of arsonists and/or the Greens for curbing forestry activities, and "Australia is a land of extremes, it has always burned. What of it?"

This (from the @wsj.com Editorial Board) distills every denialist trope there is: It implies climate change isn’t exacerbating extreme weather. It calls solutions “costly … nostrums.” It fosters doomerism. And it suggests we can just adapt to or “manage” climate impacts. How is this journalism?

Blaming climate change is the default explanation these days for any natural disaster, but Europe's costly solutions will make little difference to global temperatures.
Better forest management and fire prevention can make a difference, however.
And they would reduce the CO2 emissions from fires that now overwhelm much of the
reduction from electric vehicles or other climate nostrums.

Despite all this I am actually French, born in Scotland. I own 560 cars and a dog that owns 5 cars, none of which are Fords. I am a gay bisexual with a mortgage on a Ford and own two French cars, six of which are vegan. I like cats. As does my five dogs, both of which are English, unlike me.
